90% of top 100 (or top 50 here) prospects don’t flop and if you trade your top prospects you never have Judge, Jeter, etc because you’d already moved them for short term veteran fixes.

Has anyone recalled baserunners getting picked off in both halves of the same inning? Because it just happened in the 10th of the Phil’s-Bucs clash.

The Hader to the Padres trade is interesting. When does a division leader trade to a non-division leader for prospects?

It wasn’t just prospects; they’ll move Williams to highest leverage, use Rogers like Hader and added three other pieces. It’s weird, but I get it.

Every Joey Gallo interview I read makes me feel terrible. All fans should be forced to read them too in hopes that even 10% reconsider being such fucking shitheads.

I had to watch how Chris Davis was treated during his career-ending slump in Baltimore. It's hard to watch.

You should see how the Astros fans treated Biggio. ;-)

If you're going to trade Juan Soto, that sure seems like the kind of prospect package you'd want in return.

(Like I think Washington can end up winning this trade?)

((Maybe you can't trade Juan Soto and win, but if you were writing down the trade packages any of the top half dozen contenders would have to send for Juan Soto, this is it.))

For me it would be easier to have every player take a picture in every other uniform during spring training than to make these look as good as they do. And I'm adequate with photoshop!

Been about three months for me. Joey Votto deserved better all these years.

ETA: Joey Votto was not traded and won't be, but he deserved better through the years I mean.

Contreras is in the starting lineup for tonight's game ... the Cubs are really toying with me now.

Edit: I guess they weren't able to move Willie. That makes me happy.

I must be the only Yankee fan on the planet who thought it was a stroke of genius to jettison the meh SP, Jordan Montgomery for the elite glove CF, Harrison Bader. Once healthy he immediately becomes the best defensive OF the American League (outside of say, Buxton). Yeah, he’s hurt and they won’t see him back until the middle of Sept. But if Bader weren’t hurt, he’d have cost a lot more than Montgomery. Hopefully the move pays off this year, but holy shit: if you’re going to back up the Brinks truck and pay Aaron Judge a gazillion dollars through much of his 30s, you have got to keep him the fuck out of CF.

I'm good with the trade either way but it suuuuuuure seems like Cashman thought he had a second trade (Lopez I assume) pairing with this one.

Maybe. But that assumes Cashman and Ng were on the same page as far as who would be packaged (Peraza or Volpe, Dominguez, etc). If Miami pulled the plug on the deal because of Bader’s injury? I can understand that, but that’s not a good look for Cashman to get caught with his pants down like that.

The upside is Bader returns to being an above avg bat with an elite glove. The middle ground is he returns to a tick below avg bat with an elite glove. The downside is the plantar fasciitis is a fact of his life going forward. I say the upside is worth the cost of a Jordan Montgomery. I’ve seen enough of him to think he’ll never develop a put-away pitch.

Yeah, its obv just speculation, but trading SP depth for another righty OF just seemed weird as a standalone move which made me assume there was something else coming. Agree on the value; Montgomery never did much for me and Bader fits a need even if he's a weird roster fit.
