Without reading the rules, is it because he has his foot planted on top of the plate, effectively directing the player away? That’s probably it.

That player had a clean shot at the plate, did not have to redirect himself, etc. The catcher was on the back corner. The rule does not say he can't be on the plate. So maybe there is a interpretation of that, but even if that is the case, "don't be that good" is a way to instruct that call.

Lots of good examples here where clearly a catcher blocking. That is not the case for last night.

Holy shit, 11 wins in a row for the Reds. Longest win streak since the 1950s.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Oh nothing. Just Elly De La Cruz bagging a cycle in his 15th game in the big leagues - the Reds' first since 1989 (Eric Davis).

Reds were down 5-0 when they came to bat in bottom of 1st - they are now up 11-7 in the 7th. Votto has homered twice too. Team is going for their 12th win a row. ELDC currently batting .367...

They cut in live on the MLB Network and me and AEM watched EDLC pull it off live. Fun times. It’s so much fun watching young guys come in and hit the ground running.

There's been some clarification.
Catchers can legally stand in fair territory in front of the plate without possession of the ball. But they can be called for a violation if they don't have the ball and set up in foul territory, straddle the foul line or home plate, or have a foot on the plate or the foul line.
^This is what happened in Sox/Rangers game.

The Angels are up 23-0 after 4 in Colorado. Too early to start running the ball to kill clock?

If they can hold the Rocks off the board these last two innings (not a fait accompli) this will be the highest scoring shutout since the start of the 20th century.

O’s are calling up SS/3B/2B Jordan Westburg tomorrow and will start tomorrow night vs the Reds.

My guess is he gets most starts at 2B (over Adam Frazier) while occasionally spelling Henderson at 3B and Mateo at SS. No clue who they’ll send down or the corresponding 40 man roster move.

The Mets somehow allowed the Phillies to turn a 6-3 deficit to a 7-6 go ahead lead in the bottom of the 8th by allowing one hit, a single. If it came out that the Mets bullpen was shaving points it would explain a lot.

Not that I’m complaining, obviously.

Well..

Despite outscoring the Rockies 32-12 in the series, the Angels still lost 2 of 3. Ohtani 5 for 9 in the two losses.

Pretty obvious why they decided to key on him after the first game, then stop keying on him after the second.

So Alek Manoah talks shit on Gerrit Cole and like 8 months later is giving up 11 runs over 2 2/3 to the Yankees ... FCL rookie ball team (one hitter older than 21).

Are they still sticking with the theory that he's too fat and not having the rest between each pitch to recover is the reason he sucks this year?

Depends on what he was trying to accomplish in that start. If he's still working on mechanics and they just have him throwing fastballs at 80-90% effort for the time being, yeah you're gonna get lit up.

Just pointing out that the best pitcher in Blue Jays history went all the way down to rookie ball after a disastrous regression, and it turned out pretty well.

Just keep Manoah away from private planes after he retires, just for good measure.

At some point over the last few years, the Arby's sponsorship announced on Tigers' games changed. It used to be a customer would get a free order of curly fries with an additional purchase the following day if the Tigers had three home runs in a game.

The current promotion is the same, minus the word "home".
