That real sports cities equally don’t give a shit about Atlanta and Detroit.

(And that your reaction to that sentence is both right and wrong.)

incredibly trumpian and tiresome to complain a random chance event like this -- or any outcome one doesn't like in sports, to be fair -- is rigged

Why would anyone care about the Hawks getting the first pick? They’re not going to pick anyone good.

I think they fix it, too, to keep good players from having to go to Detroit. NBA humanitarianism.

If my math is right, they’re working on 126 seasons without a title, and it’s the same drought for even reaching the final round. The last to reach the finals from the Twin Cities was the 1991 Twins.

I find humor in A-Rod not being able to get enough money together to buy the TWolves and now they're a series away from he finals.

Everyone runs to point at Gobert and Beal, but Michael Porter, Jr. is a sleeper for "worst contract in the NBA".

Porter had a good regular season and played the third option role pretty well. He didn't play all that well in the Lakers series (despite what Malone says) but how he collapsed against the Wolves was epic. Malone says it's because "they guarded him" but I watch every game and he played way too timid and you could see the lost confidence.

I went to the game last night...it was a real gut punch after being up 20. You could see the whole team quit in the second half. Everyone else just stood around waiting for Jokic to do something. I hope they make a few major roster changes but I think they're locked into pretty much the same roster next year so I think we'll see this group for one more run.

The arc of them and the Giannis Bucks is pretty identical. I'd be proactive on some of their 2nd tier players for sure.

LaVine
Kawhi
LaMelo
Garland
Jerami Grant
Beal
Gobert

could make arguments for a couple more too without really digging too deep

By statistical production, he is an average or worse third-best player on the average team and has three years and $115 million left on his deal. He gets taken off the floor for a player four inches shorter for defense and is a well below-average playmaker, showing no real signs of improving. This season, he reversed his downward trend in defensive rebounding for the first time in his career this season.

I'm well aware of all that; but given he just played 81 games after 62 the previous year, his age, his shooting ability and size, he's far from being an albatross contract at the moment. it's not a positive value contract by any means -- he hasn't taken the leap that I think many thought he would -- but I wouldn't consider his deal close to being the worst in the league

I just read an article about Bronny James. His agent, Rich Paul, says he will not allow young James to sign a two-way contract after he is drafted. Seems a bit arrogant for a very iffy player. Is there any reason, other than his bloodline, why a team would even draft him? He is a medical risk, only 6’1”, and his one college season at USC was decidedly unimpressive.
Wiki wrote: James appeared in USC’s final 25 games, starting six and averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes.
There’s got be more than enough prospects with better resumés to fill two draft rounds.

Sports is the one area where nepo baby bullshit doesn't exist. If you can play, you're playing. So the only reason to take Bronny is purely designed to lure LeBron because of his supposed desire to play with his son.

Edit

LeBron playing in Phoenix would be something.

I get that he’s atypical for a 40-year-old player but you’re not getting 30-year-old LeBron at this point so seems kinda like a real bad idea for a variety of reasons.
