I've watched 80% of Frank Howarth's youtube clips since you posted Lawn Chair 2. I'm mesmerized by all of it, and my wife thinks I'm crazy.

This looks like it could be the worst animated move ever made:

This New York Times article explained what actually happened - a bad concept (which included villains wearing what look like Nazi uniforms hell bent on sending innocent characters to "expiration camps), an arrogant producer with no understanding of how animated films are made, listless and poorly recorded voice "acting," and an insurance company anxious to recoup ANY money at all - to create "Food Fight."

It's amazing how far we've come. Here's Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric in 1994 wondering, without a trace of irony, "what is this Internet, anyway?"

Meant to post about the show a while ago. I saw maybe 3 or 4 episodes, and thought it was hilarious. She is a great standup, and I thought the show worked well. Think Chappelle Show, but sex instead of race as the running theme. Amy Schumer is quite raunchy.

That's some Mortal Kombat finishing move shit right there... Ha. Nice.

Probably inspired by this animated overview from The Oatmeal: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/mantis_shrimp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That shrimp is redonkulous.

That dry wash video was amazing. Never seen anything like that.

And those True Facts videos are great. After Jerloma posted the mantis shrimp one, I lost about an hour of my day watching a whole bunch of the other ones about other animals. They are all great.

Thanks Sybian, I appreciate it. Yes, things look much different, but it's comforting to see all the old gang here.

Good to be back...One quick question though: I noticed the Admin has only been here since March? Did he buy this site?

The Swamp was originally on (older) phpBB software. Then it switched to vBulletin. However, vBulletin collapsed on their end and we ended up switching back to this brand spankin' new version of phpBB. Once the rebuild was completed, the administration of the Swamp was handed over to the four guys you now see listed as Admins/Mods.

And, knock wood, since the rebuild in March, it's been solid.

Thanks Scottie, good seeing you again. That's interesting you mention vBulletin. I was pretty interested in the possibility of going in on this site http://bbs.3adownlow.com/vb/forum.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is a Texas High School football board. All of the Admins and Mods are tired and want to get out, so I heard the thing was for sale. But if vBulletin blows, I don't want any part of it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Very nice to see you back here, Lew. Your blog is looking great.

The thing about vBulletin is that there are stable versions of it out there but you really can't upgrade to their latest without severely damaging your forum. In fact, the Swamp used to run on one of those stable versions. But their latest (at least as of last March) iteration stripped a ton of the functionality out of the forum software; not just on the admin end of things but functions that end users (like us) relied on and wanted. All gone. Worse, the database aspect of the latest vBulletin is utterly unstable. Have a look at some of the threads on the vBulletin forum itself. You'll see admins that have been using it for years completely losing their minds over what vBulletin did to itself and, thereby, its users. Very disappointing "upgrade" on their part. It turned out to be a thousand steps backward for them.

Conversely, this latest version of phpBB is by far the best that phpBB has ever put out.
