Not sure if you follow Ryan Lambert on twitter, but he's at a ton of BU games and usually hand tracks Eichel's Corsi numbers. They're insane. I think I wonder the opposite; what would the hype on Eichel be if he didn't have Crosby II in his draft.

not a Twitter...er? in any way but this makes me feel better. I like your positive-thinking twist Mr D!

maybe it's actually me with the Buffalo-paranoia. I just want this utter gongshow of a 2-year stretch to be worth it.

Looks like they pulled the goalie then Calgary took possession.

That makes more sense. I think I was thrown off by the player holding his stick like a goaltender.

I was out to dinner last Saturday and saw the play happen on a TV across the bar, but sort of forgot about it this week. Looked scary as shit. He stayed in the game originally, right?

I'm not sure what percentage of rangers fans really are worried. 24 of 32 teams are on point per game pace as of yesterday which is all the Rangers need for 97 points. Talbot is fine for that.

(I probably say "Talbot is easily fine for that" before his 3 slapshot goal performance today.)

The Coyotes set a single-game revenue record today though it was because they doubled and tripled ticket prices. So good for them I guess.

What's their justification for tripling prices in February with a terrible team?

The Sabres were out-shot 31-10 last night.

I was looking at goal differential, and Buffalo's diff is astounding.

Buffalo -87
Edmonton -56
Glendale/Vegas/Medicine Hat -54
New Jersey -25

How many points out of a playoff spot is a combined Buffalo + Edmonton team?

If you combined their points, they would be near the top of the league standings. Not too shabby. (They'd still be below Nashville, Anaheim, and Tampa.)

If you want to combine their rosters and play some sort of hypothetical season, be my guest.

What's happened to Matt Moulson? 8 goals!

I like Myers and Gorges. Edmonton's defense is god-awful.

I hate Gorges. Hate him so, so, so, so much. Myers ... fine, he gets a spot.

(Edmonton's defense is the opposite of sum-of-its-parts. Individually, there are guys that should be a lot better and might be elsewhere. Really don't get them.)

Flames are playing amazing right now, totally the full sum of their parts.

Record: 30-21-3 = 63 points
Home: 15-11-2
Road: 15-10-1

Record in Division: 17-4-1

Record when leading after 2 periods: 14-0-0
Record when tied after 2 periods: 7-5-2
Record when trailing after 2 periods: 9-16-1

Flames have a huge 8 game Eastern road trip coming up in a couple of weeks, that will make or break their season.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
PIT claims Arcobello

haha That's justice. Hard working smaller player who gets thrown to the wolves in Edmonton. Gets traded unnecessarily to another organization after busting his tail for a bad team. New team waives him gets picked up by an Eastern powerhouse and gets to not only play with an old teammate (Perron), but on the same team as two superstar centers to learn from. Couldn't ask for a better situation.

Hope the Pens win it all so that he and Perron get rings and the 1st round pick given up is #30.

The wires got crossed here somewhere. The Pens claimed Arcobello a few weeks ago, then waived him today. It's probably a paper move, tho. I expect him to be back. I hope so.

But Perron has been pretty great so far. No complaints from anybody regarding that trade.

As for the Oilers, Taylor Hall's ankle injury is a little worse than suspected. It's actually a fracture, and he's going to be out at least a month now. Or six weeks. Or the rest of the season. This sucks. Just a completely lost year, in every sense.

(I guess Buffalo is going to have to try a little harder for 30th place.)

Huge deal. Hearing Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian as principles of deal getting close btwn Buf + Wpg.

One of Buffalo's other first round picks? That's still giving up a hell of alot.

Don't know much about Lemieux, but Armia is supposedly very good, Stafford is pretty good (and if they can get him to re-sign then even better), and Myers is better than Bogosian.

Buffalo are basically hoping that Kane starts firing on all cylinders with one of their high draft picks (McDavid?), and that Bogosian somehow manages to turn it around.

Personally, I don't believe this offer because if it was true the Jets would be all over this unless Cheveldayoff is more incompetent than I imagined as I can't see any team offering remotely close to this for Kane.

Also, I think I disagree. Myers is probably better than Bogosian but also probably needed to get out so I don't mind considering that a mostly wash. I like Armia's profile, so he hurts the most. The 1st is late to very late. Lemiuex's dad is a dick. Stafford has no value beyond trade value. For a guy who could be a top 5 power forward and top 25 forward ... I think you do it without thinking. And Kane is still sooooooo young despite being in the league for a while. He'd be the 4th youngest player on Calgary. Younger than Kreider and Vey and Krug and all these dudes I still consider young players. Just seems like a great talent grab for a team playing for "not now".
