I know there have been lots of proclamations and wishes signed but will the Russia sanctions be the first thing passed by both houses and signed by the President? That's a poor six months by any standard.

Even by Trumpian standards having your comms director starting his job on a Friday, having his wife give birth on a Monday (which) you don't attend, imploding your reputation on Wednesday and having your wife file for divorce on a Friday seven days later is pretty fucked up right? Somehow I'm not so sure any more.

Just looked over at Trump's twitter feed, and he is clearly losing it. I picture him alone in a room, screaming at the walls as he types in this shit.

Trump is such an idiot. China has like 25% of the world's population; God forbid they have economic and poltical leverage.

I'd like to get in here early and propose that we are in the final stages of having a 3rd party emerge. The Trump party.

Who the hell is this Sam Stein?!

What a maroon.

The only good thing about the Trump is that thanks to him, we are getting to see a bunch of complete assholes being humiliated.

Spicer, priebus, Sessions, Christie, Romney, who'd I leave out?

Not for nothing, but many moons ago I was railing on the Trump transition. They had literally done ZERO prep in the event that they actually won. They had no real policy positions, and they'd barely mapped out the highest level lists for cabinet positions.

This kind of a six month shitshow is so beyond any other transition it's not even on the same planet. Turning over the CoS and the Comms Director... And the head of the NSA??

Obvious point, but this is insanity.

So Trump brings in a hardass by the book general to be his chief of staff.

What's the over/under here on Kelly's stint? If he is as uncompromising as the hagiographers say, what happens when he tells his boss that Jared Kushner is a liability - or some similar trigger?

I'm basically agog. Ultimately I legitimately think Trump is thinking of doing something stupid re: North Korea to distract attention from this shitshow.

ALL of this is fucked up beyond recognition.

This shit is about to get even more fucked up, because Kelly is not "a Trump guy." And he, apparently, takes not shit and doesn't suffer fools. Given what we know other aides have dealt with... I have no idea how this guy is going to last.

I recently heard an interview with this guy. At least there are people in Congress with a sense of decency - but of course for the Trump's it's only about orphans.

It's really frustrating to see GOP senators and representatives bitch and moan about Trump, but then vote right along with him. Jeff Flake is the latest example, but at least his anti-Trump language is pretty strident.

"Having It Both Ways" by the well intentioned but effectively handcuffed and definitely sympathetic Jeff Flake.

Flake is definitely trying to position himself for a future run for President. But as you pointed out, when push comes to shove, he has backed Trump at every turn. He voted for every single Trump cabinet appointee and also voted to repeal the ACA. Whenever the Trump nightmare ends, and the media begins its inevitable quest to rehabilitate the GOP by promoting "reasonable moderates," hopefully people remember who actually cast votes against Trump and took stances that mattered. Right now, the pickings are pretty damn slim on that front.

Imma be that guy and say if folks have followed this thread and read the Vox, Atlantic and other articles posted along the way, there's nothing new in that testimony. It does confirm things, on the record.

There are a lot of things that are now public record that make things look really shady. As of now, there still isn't the one glaring thing that creates an open and shut case.

But that's all of the things that we know from reporting and testimony. Who knows what Mueller's team is scrounging up.

Of course Flake is voting along with Trump - the votes are on things Flake agrees with. Flake is a Republican, and pretty much the entire Republican party is behind things like their horrible repeal-and-replace nonsense. They all voted for Sessions and Price and the rest.

If we want to see steps toward getting rid of Trump, it won't be from the people who vote against Trump's initiatives. It'll be from the horrible Republicans like Flake.

I think someone like Flake having an op-ed published is a big deal. This is how it starts - if it is going to happen.

To me, the bigger deal is that Flake admitted in the op-ed that as soon as Obama entered office, the Republicans joined together to thwart him no matter what he did. I don't know if any Republicans have publicly admitted that before.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

What would be the time frame for this? IIRC the 2009 Obama cabinet nominations went much smoother with less obstruction than the 2017 Trump cabinet nominations. The 46+2 Democratic senators are voting as a block right now.
