I know nonlinear has mentioned these guys before as he knows them/played soccer with a few of them, but in DC there is a radio show called the Sports Junkies (only show to replace Howard Stern that is still on air). They have a tv show where they have DC-area folks come in and talk during dinner at the Palm. Most of the shows have been very good (Fred Smoot talking about the boat party, Cal Ripken, singer of OAR, Riggo, etc). Anyway last nights show was with Gary Williams.

Some really interesting items about his move from Ohio State to Maryland. Almost leaving Maryland for the NBA and his time as a college soccer coach.

Terps thinking about playing a game each year in Cole Fieldhouse (old arean that is now used for intramurals and rec). I like the idea. Over X-mas break the terps play some poor drawing school (elon) in a cavernous Comcast Center. It would be similar to Georgetown taking a game out of the verizon center and moving it back on campus to their little McDonald Gym.

UK had to play an NIT game in the Gillispie era in Memorial Coliseum. It was...odd. But I would like for them to play one game a year there, and have it be 95% student tickets.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

But Cole is pretty darn big. I remember being shocked how huge it is the first time I visited; it was larger than Pauley. Wiki says capacity was 14,800.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Michigan State just signed a point guard named Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn. That's better than anything Key and Peele came up with.

The Sporting News does an All-Name team for college football and college basketball, and I think the real names for football are even better than the skit. The safety position is stacked, but my personal favorite is Mister Cobble.
First Team, Offense:

QB: Munchie LeGaux (Cincinnati)

RB: Rowdie Simon (Tulsa), Jack Snowball (Miami (OH))

FB: Boomer Brock (Buffalo)

WR: Jazz King (Marshall), Fudge Van Hooser (Tulane)

TE: Gator Hoskins (Marshall)

C: Blaze Ryder (Navy)

OG: Uneik Crumbley (UAB), Stern Vile (Florida Atlantic)

OT: Graham Bullmore (Northwestern), Sterling Lovelady (Florida State)

K: Chris Blewitt (Pittsburgh)

First Team, Defense:

DT: Mister Cobble (Kentucky), Dee Liner (Alabama)

DE: Wonderful Monds II (FIU), Peni Tagive (Baylor)

LB: Thurston Armbrister (Miami), Prinz Kande (Kansas), Prince Shembo (Notre Dame)

CB: Hugs Etienne (Wisconsin), King Holder (SDSU)

S: Money Hunter (Arkansas State), Wave Ryder (Navy)

LS: Stone Monarch (Toledo)

P: Steven Broccoli (Tulane)

I think Dee Liner the D-Liner is my favorite on that list.

Ok, Mister Cobble, move over. I have a new favorite:

Alabama safety suspended indefinitely
Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that safety HaHa Clinton-Dix has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

That's a (first name) nickname in case you were wondering. That lessened the awesomeness for me.

A Seton Hall player from Israel is back in NJ after spending the summer training with the IDF.

His service got deferred after he made the U-20 Israeli national team.
