Yeah, I sort of get that, but guess I don't really know how the AM anonymity thing works since at some point photos will be involved. But in any event, I get what you're saying. I guess even in a huge town like Las Vegas (or Denver/Boulder) the odds of someone your SO knows coming across your profile would be pretty decent.

Anonymity is what AM sells. Can't really "hide" yourself with those other sites and expect anyone to want to meet you. (And I think Tinder is linked to your FB account — or at least it was a couple years back.)

Isn't Tinder an app? Wouldn't that be really visible on your phone? And if you were out with your wife's single friend, wouldn't your profile show up when she checked Tinder? I don't get any of these new apps for getting laid, so excuse me if I am the old lady in the commercial who doesn't get how Facebook works.

My old roommate signed up for AM on a lark, just to try to get laid, and from what he told me, it was outrageously expensive, and the women on there were all 'bot accounts. He said in a month he never actually even exchanged emails with a "real" person.

You can take yourself on and off being "discoverable" on Tinder, but that'd be way too much work about thinking of "hey I need to not be able to be seen on this app right now."

Tinder is still linked to FB. So it makes it really easy to find a girl's real profile. Especially if you have friends in common. I've found that in a relatively small big city like here I can come across a lot of girls in the +/- 3 years age range of me with mutual friends. If we match, I can then find that mutual friend and find her FB account.

It's a good way to also verify the person is real. There are a lot of fake accounts on Tinder too. They're usually obvious (the ones that say "I'm actually 20" in the profile are a dead giveaway) but sometimes they're not.

Now I'm curious which friends of mine are on it and where they currently live. Defeats the intent of a quick, closeby hook up.

I see nothing good in the AM hack, beyond the potential for a few politicians being embarrassed. It's just another intrusion into the personal lives of individuals. Our government is criminally engaging in this more than we know. When non-government actors do the same, it doesn't make it a good thing.
