Cinnamon Raisin is disgusting. Eaten by children and goyim.

Toast any non fresh bagel. If you toast a fresh bagel in my presence, I will kick you in the leg.
I can't recall every agreeing with you more on anything ever.
We could be good friends. Except for that one pesky little issue you have!

The worst, absolute worst, are the bad NYC ones that are big and soft on the outside. Just killers.

We call those "goyische bagels"for obvious reasons.

My sister in DC swears she can't find a good bagel in the entire city. I find that strange considering Jews run the government.
You sister is actually right. There is only one place with a good bagels that I have found. Brooklyn Bagels in Courthouse (Arlington)--right across from a solid soccer/rugby bar (Summers).
Glad to hear. We are getting a Brooklyn Bagel soon. This town sorely lacks a half decent bagel.

This goy stands by his cinnamon raisin bagels. Some people just can't stand fruit or nuts in their bread. I'm not one of those.

I said it's for goyim and children. Enjoy. I like nutty breads and texture. Bagels are not pastries, they shouldn't be sweet. Blueberry, chocolate chip, French toast...all good things. JUST NOT IN A BAGEL!!

When the coffee is gone I pour milk over the cubes. That is what I pictured coffee milk tasting like, not that stuff J Lo sent me that time.

That sounds brilliant. Just finished pouring fresh coffee into ice cube tray (flexible plastic one in shapes of hearts). I'll be disappointed if this doesn't provide beau coup husband points for me.

In the same vein as toasting/not toasting, how do we feel about steamed bagel sammiches? A place up in the bar district north of me does these and they're fucking divine, especially the morning after you've been hitting the bourbon heavy.

I don't know how much more I can explain. Cut bagel in half, put sammich shit in there. Steam and eat. Is this more unique than I realize?

Never heard of them. Not sure why you would steam a bagel. Doesn't it make it soggy?

Me neither, and I would guess a little. But a good bagel probably wouldn't fall apart under those circumstances. Sounds interesting.

I have heard (or saw on a Travel Channel of FN show) of steamed burgers.

Can I go with an egg bagel? Toasted with butter & plain cream cheese.

Don't like my answer? That is ok, keep your filthy DBs off my bagel anyway.

Very quick research shows this is only a thing in Chicago, Charleston and Miami U of Ohio. Your place said they stole the idea from the deli ibn Oxford. A couple Charleston, SC delis popped up, and this reply to a Miami Ohio grad asking where she can get a steamed bagel sandwich in New York:
that's a very weird Midwest thing (I'm from MI) that I really never got. I seriously think it only happens because they don't bake throughout the day (and so need to do something to freshen the bagels up again after 6 hours). Just go to a place that bakes on premises and ask what's fresh.
ETA: I'm not above trying it. I'm leary, and as a Jew whose grandparents lived in the Lower East Side, I feel guilt towards breaking the purist mold, but I'd give it a go. I am curious how this migrated to Charleston. Maybe just a transplanted Midwesterner taking the idea with him.

As the other Miami grads can attest (I've forgotten who else is) Bagel & Deli in Oxford is a real thing. My sister is 45 years old still has to eat there every chance she gets.

I never quite got into it...it just seemed like a weird texture for a sandwich.

Yeah, I've decided to pass on this. "Steamed bagel" sandwiches held some (skeptical) intrigue but "steamed" bagel sandwiches just seems ungood.

You steam them to soften the bread a little, but it doesn't get soggy. They're good. They aren't everywhere but I have had them before. I think I got one in Columbus for work. Not sure where. It's not sacrilege.

(Yes, it is funny to think you can get a good bagel in Lexington, JLO.)

Not when you're eating both sides of it at once in a sandwich bite. Just my opinion.

Yeah, to be fair I pretty much never use a bagel as sandwich bread.

I think most bagel shops have bagel sandwiches of some kind. But I've never seen or heard of a steamed bagel sandwich.

I'm fairly certain I've never eaten a non open face bagel sandwich. Seems like too high of a bread to meat per bite ratio.
