Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: The Quickening (chatter/guesses/spoilers)
Better second episode than the first, though I though they telegraphed the shit out of the big "shock" moments.
Jon's revival could have been executed better, but at least they got it out of the way early instead of using the build-up as padding for more episodes.
I actually like the idea of using Bran's visions as the vehicle to present the flashbacks. Looks like the Tower of Joy and a possible R + L = J reveal are coming next episode.
Is anyone else losing interest in Arya's plot? When she first got to Braavos I was like "cool, now she's going to be an assassin" but it's mostly just burning a few minutes each episode on faceless assassin guy and his bitchy assistant saying cryptic things to her.

I liked Sepinwell's suggestion that it would have maybe built more tension (for something we all knew was going to happen) if the resurrection attempt had happened earlier in the episode, then cut to the Winterfell scenes, then back to the Wall to see Ghost perk up and Jon's gasp, end of episode.Johnny Carwash wrote:Better second episode than the first, though I though they telegraphed the shit out of the big "shock" moments.

So the rumor about Lyanna is what again? That Jon Snow is the rape-child of her and the Mad King?

No, his older brother, who was killed in battle by Robert prior to to the events of the series. Also it was consensual (according to the theory).Jerloma wrote:The femmy one who got bronzed by Khal Drogo?rass wrote:Rhaegar Targaryen, the Mad King's (Aerys) son (and big bro to Daenerys).Jerloma wrote:So the rumor about Lyanna is what again? No, that was a different big bro. Rhaegar was the oldest, and ran off with Lyanna even though he married to Elia Martell (who was killed by the Mountain during/after the rebellion which is why everyone in Dorne hates the Lannisters so much).Jerloma wrote:The femmy one who got bronzed by Khal Drogo?rass wrote:Rhaegar Targaryen, the Mad King's (Aerys) son (and big bro to Daenerys).Jerloma wrote:So the rumor about Lyanna is what again? Yeah, I should have said that the rape-ness is in question. Robert (and I guess Ned) both saw it as an abduction, but that's not a sure thing.Johnny Carwash wrote:No, his older brother, who was killed in battle by Robert prior to to the events of the series. The fan theory is that it was not-rapey, but that Lyanna ran away with Rhaegar, and it was covered up. Their union in that theory begat Jon, who Eddard passed off as his to protect Jon from being targeted by Robert Baretheon ( I think ).Jerloma wrote:So the rumor about Lyanna is what again? Thanks.
It's a little weird how the resurrection happened almost exactly how we envisioned, right? Like, I have a feeling that there's more to it. Maybe it was just coincidental and Mel didn't even do it. More to do with Ghost.

I was hopeful that Ramsay had finally gotten his. I loved how it was sort of ambiguous who stabbed who for a second. Should have known better.
Edited to add:
Just read something in the comments to the HitFix recap that I hadn't thought of. By dying, Jon Snow has satisfied his oath to the Night's Watch and is now essentially free. Leading the Free Folk army to retake Winterfell maybe?

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

"Adam asks, “Do you think Jon warged inside Ghost and then warged back into his body, or that he was just resurrected by Melisandre?”
I think it was a combination of the two. Jon’s consciousness uploaded to the Ghost cloud at the moment of his death. When Melisandre rebooted his body, the Snow OS was automatically reinstalled."
Clever way to phrase it.

Trivia time: Which Game of Thrones Character has killed the most people on the show (defined as directly, personally, killing someone on-screen)?

Otherwise, Brienne? She killed a lot during the season's first episode.

The Hound might be another good candidate. The hard part for me is remembering the battles.
Tyrion's attack on Stannis's ships killed tons of people, but I don't know if those would count.

Yeah, there were a number of big battles in the first couple of seasons (when Robb was still around), but for budgetary reasons or whatever we usually just saw the aftermath.Steve of phpBB wrote:The Hound might be another good candidate. The hard part for me is remembering the battles.

Could go with the Mountain, I guess. He got some kills in back then, and some more recent ones, too.

I guess Jorah has been around for longer, but the last couple of seasons he, Dario and Grey Worm have had pretty equal opportunities. Except GW had that scene were he killed like 10 harpies in an alley. But he's apparently still wrong.

My first guess was The Hound, but since that isn't correct I guess I would probably, since we're going with secondary characters, maybe go with Tormund Giantsbane since he's been in a bunch of the war scenes.
