Hey Mods:

I still have some moderator privileges, leftover from my reign as supreme ruler of the swamp. I never use them. But this spam annoyed me this evening, so I deleted two posts and banned one poster.

If this is cool, I'll sweep up the trash when I see it. If you prefer I do not, for any reason, just let me know and I won't anymore.

I contacted Shirley about all of this earlier today, and we decided to take a wait-and-see attitude with this. If it becomes a much bigger problem then we'll implement more stringent anti-bot measures to fight this spam. Until then, we're going to delete spam posts as they appear. Howard, feel free to delete those posts as you see them, but there's no need to ban the usernames or IPs.

I deleted all of our new Russian friends (and a few older ones as well) and changed up our enrollment questions. That usually keeps them at bay for a while.

Pretty weird when the giant text block posted by a spammer ends with the name of the relatively small town where you work.
