It's all just another opportunity to expand the Trump brand.

And there truly will be no resistance. The left, almost literally, isn't armed. All it has is protests. So easily squashed.

Same shit during the Convention. She wore one of her dresses, the next day she marketed the shit out of it. People applauded her for being a "regular girl" wearing a $300 dress, because she isn't a rich girl diva. No, dummy, this entire charade has been a marketing tool gone awry. Trump doesn't want to deal with the job of being President, no fucking way. Meanwhile, the dress she wore was made in Jiina.

TB makes very valid worst case scenario points, and I really hope that none of this comes true, but it is possible. I think people panic a bit after every election, but we are dealing with a special kind of sociopath with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a complete lack of knowledge or understanding of the Presidency, the working of government, or anything at all. With no interest in learning, and only caring about himself and his cartoonishly yuuuge ego. Trump doesn't give a fuck about the First Amendment, or any legal restriction on government power, I just hope his handlers and Congress do. I can't imagine Congress not using the next two years to expeditiously force through their entire agenda, and to do so to the furthers extreme possible. So long, same-sex marriage, LGBT rights or protections, EPA and other government regulation on businesses, no more funding for Planned Parenthood, huge chiseling away at prohibitions on restricting abortion rights until abortions are made illegal. No more funding for renewable energy, which (sorry, AB) is our hope for future manufacturing and exporting products and technology. If we don't subsidize research, Germany and other countries will innovate and manufacture new technologies, while we are left with ancient, inefficient energy resources, and lose out on millions of higher paying, higher quality jobs in favor of coal miners (sorry again, AB).

In summary, I am cautiously hopeful that we don't turn into an oppressive police state under authoritarian rule, but I think it is inevitable the Republicans turn back all of the progress we've made in the past 40 years.

And for fun, here is a preview of Trump's first day addressing Congress, making good on his "enemies list."

Ben Carson turns down a job in the Trump Administration.
While Carson was floated as a possible appointee to oversee the Department of Health and Human Services or the Department of Education, Williams said he never received a formal offer for either post.

"Dr. Carson was never offered a specific position, but everything was open to him," Williams told The Hill.

"Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he's never run a federal agency,” he went on. “The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency."
Holy shit...does Carson not realize that he WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!! That is some weapons-grade stupid...

That may be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

She could also scar the other side of her body with some other trendy saying. Because, short of the apocalypse, he won't be her President for a long, long portion of her life.

What makes it especially bad is that I'm sure it's her handwriting. The color is ok, but the penmanship is straight trash. The capital letters for each word put it over the top for me.

So Trump including Frank Gaffney on his transition team is a terrible sign for Muslim civil liberties. Gaffney is an unhinged conspiracy theorist who has accused many political figures -- including even Grover Norquist and David Petraeus -- of being secret Muslim agents.

Do those assholes Sam Harris and Bill Maher still think that Islam apologists are a bigger issue that Islamophobic bigots?

That diatribe that Johnnie reposted is like the spew coming from my wife's mentally ill aunt who lives in Chicago. Seriously delusional nonsense - "Obama=Hitler" was a classic. (and her parents were Holocaust survivors too.

Speaking of Jewish assholes, I have spent the morning getting to know Jared Kushner.

Impressive Lineage!

Note that the prosecutor who put the elder Kushner behind bars was Chris Christie.

A nice man this Charles Kushner:
The case reached telenovella proportions and grabbed national headlines after it was revealed that the elder Kushner hired a prostitute to entrap his brother-in-law and sent the tape to his sister, Esther, in an alleged effort to stop her from being a witness against him in a civil interfamily suit. The sleazy move seemed fit more for The Sopranos than for the religiously observant offspring of a family that is a pillar of New Jersey's Jewish philanthropic community.

Frank Fuckin' Gaffney! Jesus....He's the guy you'd move away from in a subway car. Absolutely batshit insane.

And Matt Yglesias went on an epic twitter rant about Jared Kushner (ie...mr. Ivanka).

I'm not sure if it's the Trump Administration melting down. Seems to me it is going exactly as it was supposed to.

It's our liberal democracy that is melting down.

Eh. It had a good run.

It's becoming pretty obvious that the guy who crowed about having a "plan to beat ISIS" didn't have any plans for, you know, actually taking over the Federal Gov't.

I guarantee you that Walter Mondale and Barry Goldwater both had better and more thought out transition plans then Team Trump.

For a man-child who tweeted nasty insults to those who he deemed offended his sensibilities, he sure hasn't changed his tune much, as his recent Twitter rant going after you know...the Free Press at the New York Times.

I see what's going on as a way for Trump to drive yet another wedge through the populace. There'll be those who feel it's the press' job to report on the goings-on of a president elect and ultimately president, and there'll be those who feel news stalwarts like the New York Times are ganging up on the president and that Trump would be justified in going after them litigiously.

In terms of darkness concerning the media, I thought that when just about all major news organizations became arms of the Bush White House's propaganda ministry in the run up to the invasion of Iraq was the worst thing I have ever seen.

Major media sucked during this campaign, HOWEVER, Trump's shortcomings were exposed. Not dealt with in depth, but at least the information was put out there. And now that access is being curtailed, I would hope that the major outlets will stay focussed.

If you're saying that we are, essentially, in hell because we don't know when the dawn comes again therefore we have no idea when the darkness is darkest?

Then yes.

This is cute:

So let me get this logic. Muslim registry good. Gun registry bad.

At some point liberals are going to realize there's a 2nd Amendment to combat this bullshit. And I hope that when they do recognize this, they thank the NRA for their tireless efforts in keeping the right protected.

Except that as soon as it appears that liberals are arming themselves, the NRA will find an excuse to sit back and let it happen.

Look at the NRA's history - they used to be in favor of gun control. That was because it was black people who were arming themselves.
