But pics of him in training - so he still should be available for games 2 and 3 of this 3-game set.

Did not watch the game..did Fernandes and Ronaldo work well together. There was lots of talk about how they did not combine well in the Euros which is why the Man U deal could turn out less than ideal...which I doubt will be the case.

I think they were alright. Fernandes won the penalty in the first half that Ronaldo missed, and only lasted 62 minutes as Portugal put on fresher legs to chase the game.

Japan lost at home to Oman to open Asian qualifying. Wasn't those park the bus late winner efforts either, Oman dominated.

Also Korea drew at home to Iraq.

I'm waiting for Vietnam at 2pm, first ever match at this stage.

It started out really well. Took the lead in the 3rd minute and held on until halftime. But a penalty and a red card at the start of the 2nd half and then it all fell apart.

One of my good friends is Armenian. Usually travels to an away game in a place he wants to visit. Would not have picked them to lead the group after 4 games. They have not played Germany or Iceland (but Iceland lost to Romania today). Think Germany will win the group but a 2nd place finish and shot at the big tournament would be a good outcome.

Just getting to watch a CONCACAF road qualifier on something other than an illegal feed from Crete is progress.

But let’s be clear, we’re gonna lose this one.

I’m so glad to have Canada along for the CONCACAF ride. Can’t wait for them to have to travel to Central America. By the end of this, they’re going to want to invade literally every country.

Completely agree with sentence one. Unsure about sentence two. Ball seems really bouncy.

Why do you let Central Americans immigrate into the US, they are not upright people! (Literally)

Fuck, been so excited to watch this, and my fucking cable box doesn’t work. Took me 20 minutes to log in to FiOS online, and it’s halftime.

So, what’d I miss?

Charlie Davies sounded annoyed with him. Just not getting chances? Missed shots?

He’s a striker who is not currently doing the “strike” part of his job.

Is it misguided to say he’s a decade ago USMNT player who works his dick off but without the top level skill for his position?

That’s what he looked like tonite. We’ve definitely moved beyond that. Need him to be better.

Apparently every concacaf game ended in a draw tonite? I guess we will take the point then.

Yeah, 90th minute for mexico after I posted that.

Really disappointed in how relatively toothless the attack and goal scoring chances were last night.

Argentina should forfeit, they knew the EPL players couldn't play. Brazil sat them out.
