Not sure if you guys ever played this but...listening to the play calls during XFL games makes me think I'm playing "NFL Head Coach"

I only watched about 10 minutes of a recent telecast, but I found all the chatter pretty distracting.

Y Trip Z Spread Dummy Mike on 3 doesn't mean shit to the average listener.

I think it just takes some getting used to, but the announcers talking over the coach giving the play and the the player being mic'd up... It's a lot.

See, this is a sign of a league "getting it."

Fucking hilarious.

My son actually watched a couple of games and is somewhat following this league. He got excited for the shit league they started last year, and gave up after a week or two saying the games were garbage. He is a fan of the Dallas team for some reason.

Apparently the reason is he sucks!

I've watched (and admittedly bet on) many of the games and find the strategy decisions intriguing. Much as you shouldn't watch MLS expecting the Premier League, as long as you don't expect the NFL then the XFL can be an entertaining watch.

The strategy (at least what my BIL told me) was to go after decently talented (so a bit of $$) QBs. Seems smart to me, as the games I've watched, the QB play has been serviceable to pretty damn good.

Sounds like it's time for another event in Saudi Arabia (not posting in Pro Wrestling thread).

Yep. And make it a 10-hour event because fuck the wrestlers.

I'm just happy PJ Walker already signed with Carolina or BoB would probably cut Deshaun to sign him. "He was the most impressive Houston QB I've ever seen in the month of February!"

Vince McMahon might be trying to buy the XFL out of bankruptcy.

If so, that’s peak McMahon right there.

Details of the latest league revamp

Largely beloved ex-Steelers well represented among the head coaches. I still don't get why Stoops does this unless he wants to coach without all of the stress?

Just found out one of my lacrosse ref buddies is an XFL back judge (ACC football, NCAA lacrosse ref).

Weird that the USFL and XFL will be going against each other head to head in a couple months. Wonder which one will have the ratings?

I already feel like they should combine leagues. 2 8 team leagues seems very meh.

But really, why is Houston so lucky? They already have a minor league football team and now they get 2 more.

Yet, they will still do better than most other programming because they are "live sports" and the sheer number of sports and even sports-adjacent networks will pay for their content.

Pretty disappointed there was never a dedicated USFL thread because I was going to merge it with this one.

It’s the UFL now but Michigan beat St Louis 18-16 yesterday on a walk off 64-yard FG from a former Texas State kicker who hadn’t attempted a FG since high school.

(Yes, you read all of that correctly.)

And he hit it twice, right? They called a timeout as he tried the first one that he made.

One of the guys I ref lacrosse with was the back judge for that game.

Dude made a 62-yarder yesterday. He’s going to get a shot in the NFL in the fall.
