I like the "all Europeans are basically Russians" casting.

The robot not being used for sex would be more surprising than the alternative with everything else that has happened to this point.

That maid definitely has at least one kid who looks suspiciously like Rocky.

I thought he wasn't an actor and Stallone saw him someplace and wanted to cast him.

I hated sports talk radio growing up in Detroit, but the only bit I ever liked was anytime Aaron Ward (former Red Wing in the 90s) was mentioned they played this clip of the scientist saying:
"Whatever he hits, he destroys."
"Whatever he hits, he destroys."

The robot playing music enabled them to put out a soundtrack album.

I really feel like they could have fleshed out Drago's backstory a little bit and it would make more sense if he was some unbeatable superman if he was like 31 and had never been able to fight in the West. It really wouldn't have been that hard to service the story like that.

Adrian constantly telling Apollo and Rocky how much they suck is a nice subplot.

A guy with Paulie's lifestyle weighs at least 100 pounds more today, right?

Apollo, always the gentlemen, stands when a lady leaves the table.

Rocky correctly psychoanalyzing Apollo is bizarre.

Apollo is the old school coach who convinces high school kids to get painkilling shots to win a football game that will make the team 3-6.

So Apollo looks in incredible shape for this fight coming up, which implies he didn't shortcut training, so how was he exposed so badly by Drago? Only hubris?

I'm not Larry Merchant, but I think he's smaller, older, and catches punches with his face.

It is pretty shitty to bring Drago into the ring this way and from all appearances -- not telling him about it.

Right, but you could also say this is also the same as one of the central themes of "The Wrestler".brian wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 8:31 pmDSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 8:31 pmI'm not Larry Merchant, but I think he's smaller, older, and catches punches with his face.

Bridgette Nielsen never did it for me. Not even the hottest Nielsen in Hollywood. (That would be Connie Nielsen.)

This James Brown thing is fucking legit. I really wish I would have been able to catch him play a show before he died. Legend.

If you didn't know is was coming, the James Brown cameo must have kicked ass.

Brian, I trust you don't count this music video as one of the "montages" in your "shortest script ever" theory.

The US is absolutely not the "good guy" in this movie yet, by the way.

You can't, but imagine if you removed the announcer's dialogue from the movie. It's probably about a quarter of the script.brian wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 8:35 pmHonestly, no. That shot of Rocky with his head cocked, then rubbing his eye is an excellent GIF one of my cousins dropped on me when we were discussing something I would generally classify as "can you believe this dumb shit"?

Pretty sure I have seen Stu Nahan announce more fake sports events than real ones.

The first sports bar I ever went to in LA had a Nieman 80's Celtics-Lakers print hanging on the wall.
