Hey, Bronto! How about the first official Avatar Bet of the new new Swamp! Colorado State vs. Mizzou!
It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?

So Cal underachieves all year, gets bounced early in the Pac-12 tourney, and are rewarded with a home game in San Jose vs a Vegas team they've already seen (lost by one).Le Scottie wrote:The frickin' geniuses at University of California, Berkeley, really need to do a study about why the University of California, Berkeley, men's basketball team gets blown out of any tournament, conference or national, in their first game seemingly every single bloody time.
They ran into that Utah juggernaut. Nuff said.Le Scottie wrote:The frickin' geniuses at University of California, Berkeley, really need to do a study about why the University of California, Berkeley, men's basketball team gets blown out of any tournament, conference or national, in their first game seemingly every single bloody time.
It should only matter who you play outside of your conference?FredRomero wrote:Wow is Jay Bilas a whiney douche. Get me a violin for those poor teams in major conferences who didn't get in because they only schedule Ithaca College out of conference.
oh sure. I need more torture in my life.Holy Chaz wrote:Hey, Bronto! How about the first official Avatar Bet of the new new Swamp! Colorado State vs. Mizzou!
It's not brilliant. The Midwest, on the other hand, is going to be a bloodbath.wrecks wrote:The East is easily the worst bracket I've ever seen constructed. The #8 seed is going to be a bigger favorite in its first round game than the #3 seed.
Did I say that? Other things matters too, like wins, I guess. One of the former committee guys said that they do punish teams who schedule weak out of conference schedules and I agree with that. I'm not a fan of seeing 7 or so teams from a conference making the tournament. I do have a bias towards lesser known schools, but I think Bilas has a strong bias towards the schools ESPN shows on tv a lot during the season.Shirley wrote:It should only matter who you play outside of your conference?FredRomero wrote:Wow is Jay Bilas a whiney douche. It was the only thing you mentioned. The only thing that should matter is your full schedule. You shouldn't get extra credit for non-conference games. If any games should count extra (and I'm not arguing they should - just playing devil's advocate) it's the in-conference ones because teams generally care more about those games.FredRomero wrote:Did I say that? I don't know much, but I did hear that one of UCLA's key players got injured in their semi-final tourney win. Maybe betting on Minnesota isn't such a bad idea.Le Scottie wrote:First round upset picks? Whatcha got?
I'll take No. 12 Ole Miss over No. 5 Wisconsin in the West Regional.
And No. 12 Oregon over No. 5 Oklahoma State in the Midwest. Although, damn, it is hard to have any faith in the Pac-12 teams. That makes it tempting to take Minnesota over UCLA (but I won't quite go that far).
Here's a few more who want to strangle him (I just wanted to post this again):Zlax46 wrote:I have hardly watched any college basketball all season, and then watched most of the Big10 and SEC tournaments. I can't be the only one who wants to strangle Marshall Henderson?
