Merry Christmas y’all!

We’re supposed to have 12 over to the house for dinner, so I’m making several standing run roasts. Mother in law fell yesterday and hit her head hard, so wife and her sister are doing turns babysitting at her place. My wife drew today, so it looks like I’m solo preparing the dinner (and the house). Oh joy.

We did gifts last night which I bossed for the wife so that’s at least good. And the stepson works at a liquor store and hooked me up from their bourbon allocation for the month and I got myself the spread below. For those that don’t know, bourbon has become a ‘thing’ in Alabama, so finding good bottles is expensive and time consuming. Unless you know someone. Liquor sales in the state are highly regulated (southern conservatives hate government until they don’t), so the state beverage commission buys then allocates out all the liquor. They spread the rarer bottles and types around so no one place has more than another. I mean, I can just run up the road to some places in Tennessee, but it’s so much nicer to just call Noah and say, hey, save me a Blantons and Weller please.

The six-year-old has joined the ten-year-old on the COVID list, though my wife and I are still negative. So we just figure now, if we get it, we get it, but we're not letting it take the Merry out of our Christmas. Still did family movie night and will be unwrapping around the tree in the morning. The kids chose Noelle (after Christmas Chronicles last weekend), and now the wife and I are enjoying some eggnog w/ the Captain while watching Scrooged.

Just got done wrapping the gifts and FaceTime for my little guys while I was downing some mimosas. Looking to take an easy day watching NBA and NFL, cooking some pork, and drinking a 2014 Bordeaux I found at my parents’ house yesterday I must’ve packed away a while ago. Dug out the extended editions of Lord of the Rings I’m going to start watching with L-Jam4.

THANK YOU! I can’t say this in my own house (and so Rass should never report this to my “house”) but this movie is garbage.

I feel better for having expressed this.

I liked it first time I saw it as a kid. Watched with my kids a few years ago and other than a few iconic scenes, it was boring. Kids weren’t impressed.

I'll step up for the rest of us and mention I'm on run #3 of a Christmas story on TNT commercials and all. Still laughing. Still hits home. Especially dad.
