Since Syb's reasons are much better than mine, I often steal his.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

Love watching me some EPL, but no team has taken hold of me. I certainly know who I don't like (Liverpool), but at any given time I can enjoy watching ManU, Arsenal, City, Chelsea (ish), etc. (Hell, I've lived in this city 14 years and can't even get it up for the Blazers.)

Your landing in this locale of the interwebs has been fully explained.Pruitt wrote:Many, many years ago (1991 I think), I was travelling through England and Scotland and spent a strange and wonderful couple of days in Blackpool. Wandered by the dump that was Bloomfield Road and bought a team coffee mug. Loved that mug, loved that town.Scottie wrote: And, well, the running jest of Blackpool which actually turned into real support. Jest no more. Quite so. Very quite so. Heck, I've burned a dozen DVDs of Blackpool matches and mailed them to Swampers. So, yeah, we went a little crazy on that. Frankly, most of us bought kits. The tangerine is, well, suave.

Only two. Its been tough.
1995 Braves -- An often posed question in Atlanta Sports Bars/Sports Talk Radio-- Would you have preferred being the Florida Marlins in the 90s/00s with two world series titles, but mostly craptastic in other years; or the Braves, with essentially 20 straight years in the playoffs, but only one title. Still hard to believe that the Braves only won one World Series in all those years.
1980 Georgia Football and Herschel Walker-- While I was only 13, I remember listening to the gravel voiced Larry Munson call every game. If the game was on TV, we turned down the network broadcast to listen to Munson on the call. The Dawgs have probably been top five seven or eight times since then, but that was our only brass ring.

MLB - Mets - 2 (1969, 1986) Yeah, I'm counting '69, I was born in March.
NFL - Bills - 0 countless years of woulda, coulda, shoulda
NHL - Isles - 4 (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983) Four glorious years
MILL/NLL - Buffalo Bandits - 2 (1992, 1993) Won it in their inaugural year after an 0-3 start, the city really got behind them, it was great. They've won it twice more since then, but I haven't followed them, so I'm not counting those.
So that's 8
I could tenuously add another 4 for the NY Arrows, and 4 or 5 for the Cosmos, but I really didn't follow either too much. I remember going to one Arrows game, it was cool, they won.

From near the geographic middle between Miami and Atlanta, I'd opt for the Braves.Yard of Junk wrote:Only two. Its been tough.

8!rass wrote:I have no recall of the Pirates in the 1979 WS. I can remember being put to bed the evening of Super Bowl XIV, so I'm counting that one. Add that to the two most recent SB wins for the Steelers and the three cups for the Pens, and I'm at 6.

Bucs 02, Bolts 04, Gators 96
Add Gators in 06 and 08, and Gator basketball in 06 and 07, if you're counting my teams winning, but me not really being all that involved as a fan.

1994-95; 1995-96 Houston Rockets.
2002 Texas Longhorns, CWS (just cause I was in Omaha)
2005 Texas Longhorns, BCS

Re: Championships - How Many You Got?
I don't really remember 1975 and 1976 so can't count them.
All I have is 1990 Reds and, I guess, the two tOSU national titles since 2000, although I really don't give the same level of shits about tOSU football as I do about the Bengals and Reds.

Forgot about this - 13 now. Damn.Steve of phpBB wrote:I think that if the Hawks win, it'll be my 11th championship as a fan (thanks, Michael).
This includes an NASL title in 1982 and MLS in 2009.
Just curious how that stacks up. If there are any Yankees/Man U fans, they'd have a bunch.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I watched the last inning of the UF OkSt semifinal in Omaha the other night, the only inning of college baseball I watched all year. Add another ring!

Yeah between the Pats, Celtics, Red Sox and Heels the revelry has become more subdued.

I was personally shocked that the Red Sox Magic Number thread wasn't bumped yesterday.HaulCitgo wrote:Yeah between the Pats, Celtics, Red Sox and Heels the revelry has become more subdued.

Though I guess I'd get to count favorite driver titles in NASCAR. That last one was epic.
