So I've got some general ideas for about a dozen Swamper's roles and quests in the game, but happy to take suggestions for others.
Also taking suggestions on people's "signature quotes" that appear ambiently as shown in the examples above.

Dude, I’m flattered by my head of glossy grey hair! But I’m even older than you think. I turned 23 in ‘82. You could have gone into the ‘70s.

Bumping this again. I've gotten sidetracked the past few weeks, but still plan to get back to this.
***I picked up a couple Steam keys for Neverwinter Nights (the game used to create this) and will send to the first two who call dibs here.***
My goal is to have a basic demo up soon so you can roam around SwampVille and interact with (or attack) whichever Swampers you choose. I'll continue to post screenshots/teasers here for everyone to follow along.
When testing I picked a fight in the town square and the whole Swamp swarmed me, topped off by mister d stabbing me in the back while saying, "Your taint shall be cleansed."

Re: SwampVenture (New RimWorld-ish game thing)
Hey, guess what? An actual update!
First of all, sorry again for going silent with this after the early stream of posts a few months ago. I hope I didn't dampen people's anticipation too much. Chalk it up to a combination of short attention span, getting caught up with other personal things, and wrestling with the scope of what I've been trying to do here.
This is the most ambitious of these types of things I've done here, and I may have bitten off more than I could chew with my initial plans. My goal was to turn this into a working game that people could play along with, but getting more into it I realized I had underestimated the work that goes into making things properly functional. That's still my ultimate goal, but it'll be a (very) long term one.
So what I'm going to do is primarily use the work-in-progress version of the game scenario to illustrate some of the storylines I had planned out and put together a sort of narrative, similar to what I've done with RimWorld. I'm sure most people prefer to just follow along, so that will be the main focus here.
At some point I'd like to put out a "sandbox" version of the scenario for those who'd like to play, where you can at least roam around the world and explore places and talk to the characters.
Other updates:
Another limitation I ran into is that the default selection of character portraits in the game isn't the greatest, and didn't really lend themselves a lot of the Swamper characters. A couple years ago I discovered HeroForge, which lets you create custom characters for tabletop and virtual games. I'll be using this to create the character portraits and will share them here. Here's a few to get started:
bengal the swashbuckler, who appears in one of the first quests:
Ryan is the bartender at the Yacht Rock tavern and also runs quiz games. He's also packing heat because the Yacht Rock can get rough sometimes:
BFJ the wizard, playing with one of his balls:
duff is the hard-working town blacksmith:
rass in contemplation in his role as town archivist:
More posts should follow soon.

Wow. Tremendous.
And I get you on the time thing. FC Swamp probably warrants the full game and not just the tablet version i've ben using. Plus I've actually had real work in the past few weeks, which I'll have to talk to someone about.

Re: SwampVenture (New RimWorld-ish game thing) - Big Update!
Hey, guess what? It's back!
Sorry again for the delays and hope I didn't kill the anticipation everyone had when I started this. It's been a long few months, but the last week I've had a burst of effort and made a bunch progress.
Swampville, the main hub of the game, is now looking like a proper town. Here's an overhead view. The town hall is the large building at the top center, with the Yacht Rock tavern at the bottom center, and the various other businesses ringing the center. That's BFJ's wizard tower on the upper left.

So here's the big thing I wanted to share: a video showing what the game world looks like now, a tour around Swampville. You'll see some additional new things here, which I'll cover in later updates.

Re: SwampVenture (New RimWorld-ish game thing) - Big Update!
The other thing I'm happy to share is that a playable demo is now available! Right now it's mostly limited to exploring Swampville, but you'll at least be able to see the game world first-hand. Let me know if you're interested and I can hook you up with the required file.
(This is a module for the game Neverwinter Nights, which is normally $20 to purchase but frequently goes on sale for $5. It's available for mobile too! I have one spare copy of the game if anyone wants to claim it. If you've never played a game like this before, no problem--the module is meant to be easy and it doesn't take any real gaming expertise to just roam around and explore.)
As always, you're free to just follow along here. As I get the various plotlines and quests built out, I'll post the images and narration here. I have several more updates which I'll post in the coming days. Thank you for following and I hope you enjoy.
