Top of two tables for Liverpool!
Re: Champions League 2024-25 (it goes to 36!)
I couldn't find the Europa Conference League thread, so I'll just post here. Chelsea's B team is beating a team named Noah 6-0 at halftime. It's silly but it's fun.
Totally Kafkaesque

Noah's had an amazing journey. They qualified finishing 2nd in the Armenian league last season. They've had to win FOUR rounds (first ever to do so) to get to the league stage. And they've won a match already so 24th place is not unrealistic.Shirley wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 3:56 pm I couldn't find the Europa Conference League thread, so I'll just post here. Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..
Re: Champions League 2024-25 (it goes to 36!)
I have been trying to find a way to buy an FC Noah away jersey (the pink are better than the white) for years. Even my Armenian co-worker has not been able to hook me up (3 jerseys on my wish list..FC Noah, SC Lebowski, and non-replica 1980s Baltimore Blast)degenerasian wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:32 pmNoah's had an amazing journey. Is Pulisic trying for the euro-mullet look? Because it looks ridiculous...

That was my reaction during the Jamaica games and my text chat group was also pretty displeased with this development.DaveInSeattle wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 1:09 pm Is Pulisic trying for the euro-mullet look? Because it looks ridiculous...
You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.

I thought I was being on the pretty far cynical side saying they couldn't win the PL without Rodri but this is just insane. The might get relegated without the deduction!!!

How nice is it that Liverpool has such an outstanding #2 keeper? Kelleher has been outstanding for them with Allison being so injury prone the last couple of seasons.
And they could have won by a lot more yesterday, if not for Courtais making a couple of excellent saves for Real Madrid.

That's a brutal goal to concede by Martinez (unless I'm misreading the culpability?).

Weah with a beautiful cross to McKennie who slammed it home with a flying side volley. What’s not to love?

Absolutely bonkers match yesterday between Benfica and Barcelona. Worth checking out the highlights...the Raphina "header" is nuts.
I, mistakenly was watching the Liverpool-Lille game.
Big match today between ManCity and PSG. Loser is in deep danger of missing out on advancing to the knockout rounds.

Kid was going nuts at the barca game. Might have to find a replay
Re: Champions League 2024-25 (it goes to 36!)
There were a couple that were insane yesterday. Atletico came back from 1-0 on a red and Bologna scored twice in 2 minutes to win 2-1 over Dortmund.

My text to friends yesterday, "If you have a spare 13 minutes, the Paramount+ extended highlights of today's Benfica/Barcelona match are worth your while. Drunk as fuck doesn't begin to describe that game."

Goofy offsides but I'll take it. Not even sure it was properly announced given the lack of fan reaction.

I saw the Guardian’s story about this. The opening paragraph was bonkers yet somehow, when I watched the replay while working this morning, I think they undersold it. I made the same mistake having Liverpool on yesterday.DaveInSeattle wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:07 pm Absolutely bonkers match yesterday between Benfica and Barcelona. The second half of PSG/City had been pretty crazy too.

He did the kit design for Puma. The font on the back is his handwriting.

I was listening to the Guardian Football Weekly this morning, and they had on Sid Lowe who was at the game. They were all saying there was no way they could accurately describe what had happened.phxgators wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:40 pmI saw the Guardian’s story about this. So much for the "City is BACK!" notion...The second half of PSG/City had been pretty crazy too.
Re: Champions League 2024-25 (it goes to 36!)
I checked the PSG to win line immediately after 2-0 and it was only +550.
