Dalton Knecht was the steal of the draft. He has 33 points after three quarters tonight…draining threes at will.

Philly is 2-12 worst record in the NBA and are 3.5 games out of playoffs. What are we doing here?

In 2008-09 (cherry picked because it’s Year 1 BSC) Utah and Memphis each had only 1 game where they attempted 23 threes. Celtics took 23 in the first quarter tonight.

Is it because the Knicks "style" for 20 years or whatever pre-NovaKnicks was Carmelo or whoever their best player was (usually a B/C-tier "star") going ISO ball for 10 seconds every possession that I don't mind the current game?

It's definitely the hard opposite of that coin - and, yeah, it is more pleasing to me than THAT was but...holy hell, a game where everything, EVERYTHING is drive and kick out or try and finish at the rim and no in-between is monotonous as hell too. And a lot of games have drifted to that extreme.

My good friend JJ Redick actually did a decent job of addressing this last night. Long 2s have turned into 3s and the days of 6 guys in the post are out. There are way more good to great players. That's pretty much it.

Even with all the threes, shooting percentage for the last 3 seasons all fall in the top 20 in NBA history, basically behind only all the late 70s-late 80s stuff when defense was optional. Every recent season is near the bottom in history for turnovers per game. Last season was the most assists per game ever. There are, amazingly enough, less fouls per game now than ever before. And free throw % is at an all-time high. These are the direct result of today's style of play combined with higher skill level.

To me, "they're bombing threes" is no different than "they're clanking 18-footers" which happened so fucking much for like 60 years of the NBA. I'm straw-manning all this into some of the negatives I always hear. If you're still left with "I miss Hakeem and McHale", hey so do I. But that was monotonous in the other direction and I think we're just pining for the good old days.

The Celtics have been good during every era, so I am obviously not biased.

I'm also not sure what the "obvious solution" of moving the 3-point line back solves. 3 is still worth more than 2, and the 18-footers are still going to be frowned upon because of the inefficiency

If you really want chaos, cap the number of 3s a team can take in a game, after which they become 2s. Would be fun just to see everyone get mad at (insert guy on your team who shouldn't be taking 3s) for wasting one.

Not sure if anyone else caught it, but the West-leading Thunder absolutely smashed East-leading Cleveland last night. OKC was up 40 at one point in the 3rd before they called off the dogs.

There is that. But...as long as sane Dillon Brooks is surfaced, he is such a chaos agent in a good way.

Also, Amen Thompson is SO good. You all are in such a good spot. Really good team. Genuinely good team.

I don’t even like him but I kinda feel bad for AD. He’ll go down as an underrated all-time great and being the bad end of the “worst trade of all-time”. Luka really does have to get better for that to be true, especially if you’re a title-or-bust kind of fan, and the gap in their prime years could very well be smaller than the one in their ages.

Still stunning though.

PS The Nuggets will be beat the Lakers by 50 in the playoffs.

Considering that basketball includes both offense and defense, why is everyone so sure that Luka is miles better than AD? Sure, AD gets hurt a lot, but he's a MUCH more complete player than Luka. Luka is fun to watch on offense, but he barely even pretends to play defense. AD has hot a lot more team success in his career.
Totally Kafkaesque
