The Texans really hated their OL from last season.

I like it. They're too far away to tink one tackle will solve problems. Keep building and don't swing and miss. Just build talent and depth anywhere whenever it comes along

“For me, I’d say Carlton Davis," Chase said (full interview below). "Only reason I say Carlton Davis is because he was longer than I expected, longer arms, and he ain’t got no knee bend — he just hunched his back over and played defense. I think I’ve played him twice, and he made some good plays on me, so I ain’t gonna forget that one."

I can't figure out why that's a good thing. No one understands this game but everyone loves it.

There’s a reason the Lions didn’t reup Davis and signed Reed instead. Reed’s advanced stats are way better and that’s while playing opposite Sauce Gardner so Reed actually got more vs WR1 reps.

Bill Belichick is not walking through that door.

(For the record I’ll say Belichick is probably the most overrated coach in NFL history with a huge caveat namely that he was great at identifying and developing defensive talent.)

A non-Tom Brady Patriots probably wins one Super Bowl in 20 years. Two at best. But he was good at building the D, especially in his first 10–15 years before he started coasting on having the best QB in NFL history.

Davis is one of the better man corners in the NFL. Solid signing for NE.

Reed playing outside of Sauce’s shadow should be interesting to see. DET obviously likes him.

I’m not gonna say Davis is bad. That’s a definite upgrade for NE. I just like Reed better especially at $12M less.

Why consider a non-Tom Brady Patriots when it was Bill Belichick who drafted him in the first place? Also, you have to add his two SB victories as the architect of the 86 and 90 Giants’ defense.

I don't think you'll find a more... I dunno... bemused fanbase than MI fans who followed Brady's college career. After Greise graduated, Brady spent 1.5 seasons pretty much platooning/alternating starts and even quarters with Drew Henson. I don't think it was until over 5 or 6 games of platooning in his senior year that he was officially named the starter, going on to have career highlight wins against Ohio State and to a lesser degree against Arkansas in the (fruit) Bowl.

Dude was a 5th round pick for a reason.

It was an uphill climb to get to start over Drew Henson, who was the fan favorite, as the much-heralded, record-setting, all-everything local hero from Brighton, Michigan. Whereas, Brady was an afterthought recruit from California.

Absolutely. Brady would've likely been a 3 or probably 4 star out of CA. Like Henson, he had just as much of a potential future in baseball as he did in football. Some would argue an easier path to a pro career in beisbol.

It's easier to be a "pro" because there are so many more opportunities, but the upside chance is smaller. Kyler Murray stuck with football, but that may just have been as much about the A's (i think they held his rights) than baseball in general. But each major league team accounts for 120+ roster spots at least. But the starting money if you make it is probably way better in football. That's not even considering NIL that a top football player will make tons more than a top baseball player, though, so his "minor leagues" is actually a nice nest egg for life with proper management.

So Michigan coaches suck? Can't see talent even when it's on their field everyday? No other way to look at that. I don't think Belichick turned him into a stud in practice as a rookie. And since you seem to be arguing that he did, y'all can stop with the Belichick hate. It's not becoming

He was actually drafted after the 6th round as a 6th comp pick (to mitigate the Pats’ loss of FA punter Tom Tupa) before the 7th round. 199th overall. Crazy.

So the Pats got Brady as a compensatory pick so the Jets could have 3 years of Tom Tupa punting for them? Still worth it from a Jets perspective. Tupa was an above average punter who could throw!

He’s the second-best QB named Jalen to play at Alabama in the last 10 years.

He's a shorter Anthony Richardson.

I'm not saying Milroe is some tremendous thrower but if Anthony Richardson were as accurate as Milroe, he'd be getting MVP votes

There's enough there that I can talk myself into it. His biggest issue seems to be getting picked by zone defenders when he locks onto one read - how much a QB can improve on that is a dice roll.

That and he takes too many sacks. Anthony Richardson is one of the best at avoiding sacks.

I think he's a really good prospect who is getting dragged down by the subpar QBs around him in this class. Has some weird lapses but the arm talent is tremendous and he does all the QB stuff too, ie he's not just running "college" stuff.

And I do for real think that Milroe has a better chance of being a difference-maker in the NFL than Shedeur Sanders. All of that running around at Jackson State seems to have convinced him that he can do it at any level.

Malik Nabers would have had 2,000 yards. They're not gonna be good so may as well have been fun.
