I was mentally complimenting myself earlier for not getting caught up in the Cleveland Show quagmire (ha) and did the same damn thing with Cunningham. I really thought there were enough good answers here that the damage would be spread out.

Jerloma wrote:I bet Simpsons was the only one DC knew.
And you would be right. The only reason I knew about this show was that as a teenager I wrote comedy skits with a guy who went on to become one of the first producers of this show.

Of course, I never thought he was that funny. Somehow he managed to write or produce for SNL, Seinfeld, and a few other monster hits in their early days. That shows how carefully attuned I am to the comedy business, and attests to my keen ability to judge talent.

I really misread 2 questions. I was very surprised that 11 Vikes threw for 4,000 yards in a season. I should have thought about that and reread. Completely misunderstood the NCAA sponsor question. Somehow I read it that there are 6 sponsors who rotate as the sponsor for the semifinals, thinking they got rid of Bowl games for the playoffs. I let my bowl game bias interfere with my understanding of the question. Not that it would have changed my thought process, but my post submit Googling made me think I got the question wrong.

Thanks for the fun, Ryan.

Noble opponent Syb, this was no doubt a bad luck Swampcrash for you. Even moreso because I was bathed in good fortune. I expected this contest to be on the grim side. I couldn't even guess at the Disney question, but the penalty for being wrong wasn't much. For two others, I had just a single answer that I thought might be right. Not promising. But they both turned out to be one pointers (Simpsons, Discover as a bowl sponsor) -- and perhaps they were even Jordan-esque.

No bad luck, I'm usually right around the 33rd Percentile. I over thought the Simpsons. I figured it was the most obvious, so people would assume everyone avoided it, then answered Simpsons thinking nobody else would. Then a couple people wouldn't be sure of another correct answer and go Simpsons. I had this week penciled in as a loss when the schedule came out.

Syb, I typically whine about my bad luck on these things, but recognize that it goes both ways and I got about what I deserve. But in this case, I have to say that I was saved at least 20 points due to exceptionally good luck. And not just on the questions I mentioned. For example, I am a minor Drogba fan, but I was guessing (2 pointer!) that he lead the EPL in goals. I thought Rooney was more likely (but that was wrong). So you were more unlucky than you may know, since I was very lucky indeed.

Though I have to say that a more lenient judge would have given me one point for Ye Olde Mouse Trappe as an answer to the Disney question.

Based on the large number of errors on this one, I wonder if we could develop a consensus here about banning any future question related to the Disney empire? While we're at it, could we also eliminate all questions having to do with the entire field of entertainment (and especially awards for same), with the exception of jazz and rock prior to 1980? Finally, hockey.
