Those fuckers are having fun. Why not celebrate that?
Because hockey fans, especially Canadian ones, are pompous jerks?
Writers bashed Nashville a decade ago, now that can't admit they were wrong so they'll pick apart anything.
That's laying it on a bit thick, but I think it's true that Canadians and other hockey traditionalists cringe whenever a sun belt team is particularly good. They really only want domination from Canadian teams/original six/maybe add Buff/Pitt/Phil/Minn.
It's the term bandwagoner that bothers me the most in Canada. Every business should welcome new fans and new markets. Except hockey. Everyone had to start being a fan at some point. Usually during a nice playoff run.

i used to have a rant about the phrase "growing the game" because it leads to shit like glowing pucks and obsessing about ratings who cares.

having said that, i live in Vancouver and literally *every single person i know here* is rooting for Nashville with a healthy side-dose of "but Crosby is so awesome that if he wins it again that's ok too" - there's absolutely zero bitterness here towards Nashville - the only bitterness is towards the Canucks' front office. :D

I'm glad to hear that Max. It offsets some of the crap I see on Twitter.

Yeah, respectfully... That is exactly why I don't do Twitter. I listen to a lot of podcasts and invariably they will start talking about "everyone is saying (fill in some hot take here)."

I'm often left confused, until I remember that 99 percent of the time the hot take lives exclusively on Twitter. I had no idea there was any bitterness about Nashville. Living in Caps Country*, the folks that I know are universally rooting on Nashville. Yes, a big chunk of that is about hating Crosby/Pitt, but there's a healthy dose of just liking what they're seeing from the team and their fans.

ya you've kind of hit on one reason i hate...not necessarily Twitter itself but Twitter-nation? (hate the sin not the sinner!). snarky, no dialogue, one-upsmanship...kind of like the Swamp!

Image

no fuck it i loathe Twitter.

There's as little "hate" for either side in this playoffs as i can recall...aside from the fact that there's an apocalyptically criminal amount of yellow all over the gd place every.damn.game :D i keep switching sides to root for myself. makes it *a little* less fun as i feel like i always have a team to hate in the finals...but then again everyone i root for always loses anyways so win-win for Max in 2017!!

(btw total aside we're moving in a month - back to the States and it looks like Buffalo)

Is it just me or was Sid a little salty last night?

I have some very important thoughts!

1. Crosby could have done a lot worse given that Subban had his leg solidly pinned to the ice. The head stuff is shit, but his options were pretty limited given the ref wasn't calling the hold that had them in that situation.

2. I haven't seen anything about it but Arvidsson breached some serious fight etiquette throwing punches at Hagelin after he got kinda dropped.

3. Its going to go 7.

How'd you feel about the whole "throwing a bottle from the bench on the ice during play"? Fuckin' shitbird. Why can't he just be the great player he is without all the stupid shit? He's incredible, yet still finds ways to make me hate his guts.

I found it very confusing, to the extent I can't even figure out an opinion on it.

(It definitely validates what Subban has been doing. If there's one thing about Crosby, its been repeatedly proven you can get inside his head. I don't think it matters because even at 20% distracted he's still the best player on the ice, but he can be rattled.)

If he did throw the bottle on purpose, then I have more of an issue with that than the Subban incident, for reasons explained above.

I think Sid has gotten better control of himself the past couple of years (or at least better at waiting for the opportunity for a jab away from the play rather than being goaded into taking a showier penalty).

Any reason to not leave Rinne in last night and try to work through his shit rather than hoping he can do it next week? Not complaining personally, just wondering.

I'm pretty sure Patrick Roy would agree nothing good comes of trying to let a goalie figure it out mid-disaster.

But they had the intermission. Unless they talked and Rinne asked out...

If the Pens win in Nashville it'll be 5/5 cup wins on the road.

5 cups in 30 years is awesome for their fans but sucks they've never lifted it at home.

Eh. Isn't it extremely common for teams to do that in the playoffs? Once the game seems dead, you get the starter out for sanity or injury protection issues. I don't know if it was precautionary or worse, but they kept Ellis out too.

Can't believe they finally called an interference penalty.

My biggest gripe with playoff officiating is their tolerance of interference that would be penalized in the regular season.

Yeah, they were blowing quick whistles all series. I thought it might cost someone a goal eventually. Although, I really think that was the case of the refs conspiring to not let the Pens win a cup at home.

A lot of internet people seem to think that's why Pitt didn't get a power play which sounds like how NFL refs operate, but as noted so many times...it's stupid.

Anyway, I can't recommend this bandwagon thing enough, you guys.
