BFJ is the town wizard who runs a magic shop. He also has a golem that he has trained to attack anti-Semites.

Dammit.

I saw them as the opening act for Bob Dylan around 1986. I had no idea who they were, but they were great. I've liked their music ever since - it's about the only kind of music that I still like playing as loud as possible.

It’s Tom Jones at the top followed by Bonnie Tyler and The Alarm in some order.

I was literally going to see her tonight in Denver. I read an interview with her (I didn't know she was from Denver and a big Nuggets fan - apparently during her shows she would ask people to give her scoring updates) earlier this week and thought it might be a nice show to go see. The venue she was supposed to play decided to hold a "informal gathering" hosted by one her friends.

Oh man. The radio station I was listening to this AM mentioned she was touring and I think has a new album pending release.

I always put her big hit in the novelty song bucket but that's probably not fair. It was boundary-pushing for the time and from what I'm seeing on social media seems to have been important to a lot of people.

Six Flags America (Maryland)
https://wtop.com/prince-georges-county/ ... this-fall/

I went here before Six Flags bought it in late 90s. Was Wild World back then. Had no clue the original construction/owner was Ross Perot and ABC. What is amazing is the press release says "amusement parks are not a “strategic fit” with the company’s long-term growth plan". What is six flag if not an amusement park business? I get that the property has way more value for redevelopment, but sad to see the place go.

Can we still blame Dan Snyder for this? https://www.washingtonian.com/2008/01/2 ... king-fast/.

That's where I got my first COVID vaccine.

I'll try to be as diplomatic as possible and say that the patrons made the amusement park a pretty not fun place to visit.

My kids are big coaster fans so we hit Hershey and Great Adventure every summer. Is it worth going there before it closes? It’s a little more than an hour from where I am.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.

They have implemented a chaperone policy which will (mostly) eliminate my issue with the place. My experience was that a group of teenagers would just bum-rush a line and cut and the staff did nothing about it. Same group mentality of teens and their ATVs and dirt bikes riding through cities uncontested.

In recent years, they've also had a lot of trouble keeping their rides open. So, I'd definitely look into that before buying tickets.
