Wesley about to be hoisted by his own petard for his pettiness here.

Never crosses Dalton's mind in the "one or the other" scenario that he would get double-crossed. I mean, you CAN take Wade Garrett with you.

Has anyone called a doctor "Doc" in real life since the 1940s?

Why doesn't Dalton just explain to the Doc WHY he wants her to go?

Nice shot of the boat dealership in the background. Jasper is about 20 miles away from anything bigger than a river.

Not unless they were trying to get somebody to throw a punch at them.

Terry Funk wearing white boots with fringes. You will never be able to convince me he never wore those in a wrestling match.

I don't like this final scene because there's really nothing up to this point that leads me to believe Dalton is a fucking ninja like he's portrayed here.

I do appreciate that the movie doesn't insult our intelligence by allowing Wesley land some punches. It's all with weapons versus MacGuyer (er, Dalton)

Seems like Dalton was unnecessary if it just took a few 60 year old guys with shotguns to take out Wesley.

Hey I like cheese as much as the next guy, but this film and the word "intelligence" shouldn't co-exist.

You guys can read it in the morning, but I have to tie together a couple stories.

OK, #1.

The size of the town of Jasper is never really thrown out there, but by virtue of having a car dealership and some other business that imply it's a small town, but not without quite a few businesses. I grew up after age 10 in a town of about 35,000 people and I can tell you that when you're about age 20-23 that there is basically only ONE or maybe two if you get to a certain size town type-establishments in said town where everyone goes on a Friday or Saturday night and that it can change on a dime for reasons that wouldn't make a lick of sense to anyone who doesn't lives there or even if you do sometimes (in my town, an example of this would be (and I am not joking "too many Mexicans started going there"*.

There are obviously other places to go, but those places are not THE place. The place where everyone goes.

* - I did go there a few weeks after that (remember that I was living in my college and internship towns during all this time, so not spending every weekend in said hometowm) and damn if there really wasn't a shitload of Mexicans there. They seemed nice enough, it's not like it was a scene out of Scarface or anything, but basically the Anglo kids abandoned the place apropos of seemingly nothing

For obvious reasons, they changed the name, but I willing to state that Jasper, MO is a supposed to be Joplin, MO. (There is a real Jasper, but it is basically part of Joplin.)

I do. Occupational hazard - I talk to a lot of doctors as a med mal attorney (experts aplenty needed in any given case) and doc is an easy early way to be casually familiar but respectful with someone you have just started consulting with but are uncomfortable going first name yet...

I’ve been personal friends with my dentist for over 30 years. Everybody in his office calls him Dr. Jones. I’m not going to be that formal with my friend, but just calling him by his first name in his office doesn’t seem right either. So, I call him Doc when I’m in for a checkup or something.
