Thanks sancarlos. I’m doing pretty good - took $2 from ZaZ and the three other folks in the Avs/VGK contest.

Okay not NHL but Sean Avery signing with the Solar Bears.
He’s 41, he has no goodwill with the NHL GMs, he doesn’t have elite talent. He has no shot to get back to the NHL.
But this feeds his ego and gets his name in headlines, which is probably the main goal, anyway.

forgot to post this yesterday but 40 (!!!!wtf) years to the day since Wayne broke the single-season goal scoring mark in Buffalo. The buzz leading up to that game was huge, I even noted it as a kid - celebs etc, plus Wayne's family is only an hour from here so was easy for them all to be here.
You had to kill at least a few people in Buffalo to get tickets back then but a few kids i knew were there; I remember listening on my little transistor radio in bed and Rick J only did radio back then and went nuts - was really a pure celebration (cue Kool N The Gang...which they did). Amazing to me to also remember/hear how loud the Aud was, even just for a game in February.
I miss the days of little/no hype either on the telecast or "game presentation"
(prick stole the thunder from my man Gilbert Perreault who had all 3 Sabres goals :D)

Stadium series was a blast. So many Bolts fans made the trip. From where we were sitting the opposite side of the stadium felt very Preds heavy (lots of yellow visually) but we had tons of Bolts fans around us, and were definitely the more vocal side. I really don't enjoy bro-country music, and kind of hated Broadway, but there was more than enough other things to get into, plus it was just nice to be on a trip with other couples.

Ovi got #34 of the year tonight. Needs to average 33/year for the rest of his contract to break the record.
3 goal behind Jagr

Feeling a bit melancholy about hockey and my Sharks. I’ve been part of a season ticket group for as long as this team has existed. But, after this season, we are out. Just can’t get enough interested guys together to buy 44 pairs of seats anymore.

Flames with their first real test tonight in Denver. Man, the Avs are crazy fast. Flames look like they're holding their own and skating with them though. Really fun game so far.

(it's kids-day at the arena today, they're "taking over" the broadcast too)
his daughter interviewed him after the 1st period, very sweet.
crazy that virtually none of these kids even remember a Sabres playoff team, yikes. to be fair (for the first time this year from me...) they've been pretty exciting the last 2 games beating good teams. Something is coming together to be sure, but they still have so much shit in the bottom half of Fs and D and you can't win with half a team (this has been your deep Max Webster analysis).

On a deep, dark level it mystifies me that the Lions have been to 5 conference finals (including NFL finals from the 50s when there were no "playoffs") in 87 years (including a shitton of years where it was WAY easier because you just had to finish top 2 in an 8-team league) and the VGK has been to 3 in 4. The universe isn't fair ultimately is the only conclusion you can draw and there's too much chaos out there. Too. Much. Chaos.

The NHL is so stupid. They can downgrade majors but not upgrade minors to majors.
How does one embellish boarding? how does that even get considered in a referees mind?

Without looking, I'll be 100% stunned if Colorado weren't leading at the time of the call ...
(Well color me stunned. Down 1-0 in the 1st. That's just about the last game situation I would have guessed, so I imagine its more incompetence than "trying not to affect the outcome".)

So you also believe in NHL referee's game management, I'm not the only crazy one.

Is there anyone here who still thinks the NHL shouldn't just reseed conferences right off the bat? I feel like every year, I'm indifferent to where the Pens finish as long as it's top 4.

NHL playoffs are such a crapshoot. I don’t think seeding matters near as much as in other sports.
