So basically the division is upside down. That’s fantastic.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Even though I have good friends who are big Yankees fans, I’m hard-wired from youth to root against them. Blame my father. (Funny thing - his mother, my grandmother, loved the Yankees, but he hates them - and he didn’t have much regard for her, either.)

Kleenex joke too much for FB, huh?

Understatement of the day. This is kind of a big series coming up in Tampa Bay.

It's a bummer Ohtani has struggled in his three starts this month, as I would have enjoyed some chatter about him potentially winning the Cy Young and a Triple Crown in the same season.

A supp round pick from nine years ago just made his major league debut as a pinch runner and stole 2nd and 3rd on the first two pitches.

Watched the Rockies/Nationals game. What a shitshow by Colorado’s Daniel Bard in the bottom of the ninth, after he was brought in to close out a 4-1 lead. Four walks, one HBP, and one single later, it was 4-4 and the bases were still loaded. New pitcher promptly gives up a hit and Nationals win 5-4.

17 pitches. From 5-2 to 5-6.

Some bitch ass shit from Houston here. Don’t be bringing this unwritten rules crap after Garbagecangate. I gave them mostly a pass on that because they weren’t the only ones doing it but I definitely don’t want to hear shit about sportsmanship from those fuckers either.

I'm not sure I understand the unwritten rule part. Is Maldy supposed to not chirp back when there had been chirping all game just because the other team just hit a grand slam?

Yeah, Maldonado was acting like a hurt bitch there. You could tell he was standing near the plate as soon as the first runners started to score. He was going to let his feelings be known.

I just perused the crawfishboxes.com gamethread (sbnation/vox), and the ratio of people who want to see “Maldy” released is perhaps conservatively estimated at 4:1.

Also someone pointed out that Maldy got suckered into all of it rather than working to keep Valdez focused, which would appear to be what you’d want out of the C position.

Yes? Did Van de Donk run up in Horan's face after the goal or did she accept what just happened?

Did I say Maldy was not guilty? Typically when benches clear like that it's because stuff has gone on all game long by both teams and it was the last straw. Like Maldy talking shit after the grand slam. Like Simien talking shit rounding the bases earlier in the game. Like stupid accusations of throwing at batters by both teams. The only people wrapped up in their dumbass biases on this are people who will take any opportunity to shit on the Astros.

My kids both just said "I'd rather not have seen a championship than have won one through blatant cheating while living a state that ranks 49th in the country only because Florida is somehow worse". In unison.

Of course not. He’s a 36 year old with a 51 OPS+ who has a penchant for getting distracted from his responsibilities. Last night was just another reminder of that.

Apparently Maldonado made it personal with Semien by responding to his quip, “We’re going to win” (after Semien was drilled by a pitch), by telling him, “No. You’ll lose just like you did in Oakland.”

What’s interesting is a 36 year old man takes this shit way too personally. Garcia hit a GS, and when Semien stomped on home plate, that’s Semien tying the (personal) score with Maldonado. But Maldy, despite being a catcher (and de facto leader of a pitching staff) was incapable of seeing it that way.

Yes, Maldy is the only baseball player in the history of the sport who has responded to trash talk with trash talk of his own. What a deranged individual.

That's not what I said at all. I was simply pointing out why Astros fans were clamoring for Brown to rid them of Maldanado. He acted like a punk last night rather than be a leader of men. In fact, he not only reacted poorly, he instigated most of it. You claiming there have been other examples of players in the past earning their outright release changes none of that.

I'm with Giff on just that one part. This isn't some new sentiment, Astros fans have been against Maldonado for as long as they knew he was puerto rican.
