I remember this. Shearer's last season.

Lee Bowyer was a madman. Dyer was no shrinking violet either.

Here's Dyer's version.

Here's Bowyer's version (it starts 4 minutes in).

The best part is they're both still mates.

Soccer gods punishing Liverpool for punting the FA Cup like they did. They must have been pissed because They don’t do nice things to Everton very often.

Kai Havertz set to miss rest of season with injury in major blow for Arsenal
Arsenal’s worst fears have been realised with Kai Havertz set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side without a recognised centre‑forward in a blow to their Premier League title hopes.

The Germany striker, Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 15 goals in all competitions, sustained the injury during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai designed to give Arteta’s squad a much-needed break after an intensive run of games in January.
So...was he rough-housing on the beach or something?

No, the past couple of years when they have a break in games, Arsenal go to the Middle East to train for a week or two. Since they were out of the FA Cup and had a bye in Champions League, they had almost 2 weeks without a game. They should have bubble wrapped the only striker on their roster. Fuck! Why didn't they buy a striker?

They tried for Ollie Watkins, but Villa demanded too much. I think they made the right move not overpaying for a 29 yo striker.

Came to this thread to say the same. I’ve seen him do that a few times now, he just hasn’t always been able to finish like that.

They deserve this. The utter arrogance that they (and their fanbase) showed before and during the window assuming they'd get Isak from Newcastle - sometimes for laughable prices - just because they had decided he was the perfect fit for their needs was infuriating.

During the dark years as a Newcastle fan (almost all of the years, to be fair), Arsenal used to be the big club I rooted for. Loved the way they played. Henry is probably my favorite non-Newcastle player ever. Fabregas, Van Persie, Vieira, etc. so good. Even Wenger's grumpy whining added to the fun of the league. Plus, they had the best kit, Fever Pitch, many of my friends were Arsenal fans, and I even went to Emirates for a match.

But it seems different now. I can't believe the way the fans have turned on Arteta.

Maybe I had a romanticized image of their past, and they've always been this way. But it feels like things have shifted.

Merino looked good in the striker role today.

Big for the Arse. Not only for today, but maybe for the rest season.

Although the studio team is overdoing it a bit in the postgame analysis.

The season was over before this! (untrue)

The season is now saved! (also untrue)

Full marks to Arteta. Mikel recognize Mikel.

Some friends have been doing a breakfast pop up to earn money for their soon to open brick and mortar. They are in a brewery that opens for Arsenal games. I walked in five seconds before Merino scored his first and declared myself the good luck charm.

Newcastle didn't bother to show up today. They showed City way too much respect from jump.

Trippier opened it up with amateur defending. And Newcastle's response to letting in a Sunday league goal wasn't to fight back. But rather to lie down.

Switching off in disgust.

Ironically, City and Newcastle are currently staunch allies in the grand scheme of the league.

City's recent success in the courts against the "Red Junta" (or whatever the British press are calling the old guard) should mean a massive boost for Newcastle's ability to compete.

So while I'm not enjoying this thrashing (and the goal differential stings even a little bit more), I can't hate on the boys in blue.

I went to the grocery store and Home Depot for the second half. It was more satisfying spending $180 than watching the rest of that dreck.

Fixture congestion is definitely a thing.

And just wait until the ridiculous "Club World Cup" that is coming this summer. Will clubs bring their A Team for the tournament? Thank god my team (Liverpool) isn't participating.

The match between City and Newcastle was quite the lesson on the import of the January transfer window, eh?

Because Marmoush and Nico shone brightly.

Yeah, Chelsea started the season with "too many" players. Now, after sending several out on loan and a bajillion hamstring injuries, their bench is full of junior team call-ups.

Did you see the bench for ManU today? Lindeloff is 30...everyone else is under 20, most with zero EPL experience.

Was curious where he landed on the “our asshole versus asshole” continuum.

(Specifically asking because of the sequence late when he lost position in the box and visibly quit on the play.)
