That’s what Gatorade bottles are for. (Federal law says you have to take a rest break every three hours anyway.)

Yup. It's an awesome movie.

(And Jay Z did the album for it. Low-key one of his best albums ever, oddly enough. You just don't expect him to do what Prince did for the Batman track.)

We watched Pain Hustlers with Chris Evans and Emily Blunt. Sort of a parallel track with the rise and spread of Oxy, so it wasn't exactly groundbreaking or mindblowing.

Pretty good cast and it moved along just fine. Kind of a neutral feeling about it.

I've never seen it either. I keep saying I'm going to start watching more movies, but between books and music and sports, my pop culture life is pretty full right now.

The movie starts at 3:30 so dinner will be at 7:30 at the earliest. But seniors get half off that too!

Depending on the casino, either 50 or 55.

I can't decide if this means I should visit these casinos for the discounts, or avoid them for the insult of being called a senior at 58.

Killers Of The Flower Moon was great. Scorsese still bringing it in his 80s.

A case can be made that Scorsese made the best or at very least most influential movie of the 70s (Taxi Driver), 80s (Raging Bull), 90s (GoodFellas), 00s (The Departed), 10s (The Irishman), and the 20s (Killers of the Flower Moon).

The Irishman was good but I don't think it is on that particular list.

Unless by "influential" he means leading the way on the use of technology and production tricks to de-age actors instead of casting different younger actors.

That's a fair point. But it still was a bit wonky. Not Henry Cavill's mustache wonky, but wonky. Point taken, however.

I get so pumped about movies and then don't see them. I told myself I was going to see Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon on opening weekend, and I still haven't seen either.

They are re-releasing Oppenheimer in theatres this weekend, so I snagged a ticket Saturday morning.

Totally fair points. The Teens was the least movie-watching decade for me at least the 60s, if not the 50s or 40s. Push come to shove, I think the best movie of the Teens that I saw is Moonlight.

If you ever listened to the song Bikeriders by Lucero and thought “I would like to see a movie based on the source material for that song directed by Ben Nichols’ brother starring Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon and Norman Reedus” buddy have I got good news for you.

I don't know that I'd call "The Departed" or "The Irishman" the best or the most influential movies. I liked "The Departed", but didn't think it was on par with Scorcese's other work, and I really didn't think much of "The Irishman" beyond Pesci's performance.

The Departed only suffers from being compared to Scorsese's prior work -- for any other director, it would likely be considered their masterpiece. It was worthy of finally winning him a Best Director Oscar, though ironic because it's maybe his 5th best movie at best.

As great as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull neither are seriously competing with best or most influential of the 70s or 90s.

Where are you getting that take from? Both are considered amongst the greatest movies ever made.

I mean the 70s are likely the most critically acclaimed decade ever. For “best” you have the two Godfathers along a few others. For most influential, probably Jaws and Star Wars which are among the few most impactful movies of all time.

I think of the 80s as more or less the Spielberg or possibly John Hughes decade. Not gritty black and white character pieces. Raging Bull is essentially a 70s movie.

I agree that Raging Bull is more of a 70s movie. Scarface feels that way too.

Didn't see Ghostbusters: Afterlife when it came out (I guess it dropped during Covid?) - anyway - it's...good? Like, it's good. Really hit the good stuff from the original. If you are looking for a fun movie for family time etc this weekend and your crew has not seen it, it's one to consider.
