Ah, yeah. For some reason, I was thinking Tillman as the author's name.

Fuck yes I'm watching! Love this show. It's been a really good season so far and this week's episode was great. So many great Wiley dishes.DaveInSeattle wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 1:20 pm Is anyone watching the new season of Top Chef (in Houston this time)?
The challenge this past week was pretty cool. 2 person teams, making two dishes that look the same but taste totally different. Interesting idea.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I am really enjoying Winning time. The look of the series just fits the time and the characters are ramped up to make a point. But very enjoyable and really impressive film making.
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I agree, really enjoying it (except for the making me feel like I’m rooting for the Lakers part).
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

Genuinely, something new. Unique. I am in episode 2. Anyone else giving it a go?

Thanks to whoever posted about Our Flag Means Death... I can't stop binging this damn show. Came into my office to break a 3 episode streak. Absolutely loving it.

So I'm only two episodes in. I like it a lot.
My wife just went to bed and won't let me watch any additional episodes, because she's too freaked to catchup solo.
I think I can respect that.
I wish Slow Horses started so I could've slid over to that.
S2 of King of Queens it is.

I read the book and agree it was incredible, and yet ... I don't remember the murder story at all! All that has stuck with me are the crazy stories about the origins of LDS.The Sybian wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 1:36 pmThat book blew me away. I read it more that 15 years ago and just recommended it to someone yesterday. Is the show going to focus on the murder only, or go into the history of the Mormonism as well? I was more interested in the historical aspect, but the murder makes a lot more sense as a min-series. Either way, I'll check it out.A_B wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 1:22 pm Kinda stoked about "Under the Banner of Heaven" that was previewed during the oscars. One of my favorite non fiction books.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: Television (no longer temporary)
I listened to the Last Pod on the Left series on Mormonism and was traumatized. Mostly because of the more contemporary fundamentalist creeps (Warren Jeffs, et al), but Brigham Young was a total POS also (and arguably worse than Joseph Smith). Still need to read the source material (No Man Knows My History, for one).

Joseph Smith having a revelation that his followers need to pay off his personal debts is my favorite ballsy move among cult leaders. I feel like that's even mentioned when you're growing up in Sunday School but it's somehow spun as proof that he's an actual prophet.

Anybody else watch Abbot Elementary? I think it's fantastic.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Tied with Mel Ott at Number 25 is Miguel Cabrera at 511.

I have hammered through Starstruck (British comedy on HBO Max). Rom-commy but pretty fun.

I thought getting busted by his wife having a side piece, and then declaring that God had told him in a vision about plural marriage was pretty nuts.P.D.X. wrote: Thu Mar 31, 2022 1:26 pm Joseph Smith having a revelation that his followers need to pay off his personal debts is my favorite ballsy move among cult leaders. Yep...very much so. Figured out early that it wasn't for me, but had to stick with it until about senior year of high school. Still had to do the early morning seminary (which SUUUUCKED), but I got a job where I had to work most Sundays, so that got me out of going to the Priesthood/SundaySchool/Sacrament Meeting trifecta of doom.sancarlos wrote: Thu Mar 31, 2022 6:02 pmDave, you grew up LDS, right? That one got me also. And the guy that plays Michael Cooper could be related to him.

I have at least a dozen questions that demand answering after watching the season one finale of Severance last night.

The one casting struggle I am having is Wood Harris as Haywood. Just keep seeing Avon Barksdale.
