Seinfeld episode where the movie “Rochelle, Rochelle” tells the story of “a young girl’s erotic journey from Milan to Minsk”.

Seinfeld ran from 1989-1998 when I was between 6-15 years old. Never appealed to me.

I was a Seinfeld watcher when it was on its original run, and I’ll watch it occasionally on reruns. I most likely saw that episode at least once, but that line must’ve not resonated with me.

I had a college friend who was German and raised in a pretty religious family. He was really into the Monkees. The Beatles, and those first few bong hits, really blew his mind.

It was a recurring theme. They saw the movie in an episode, discussed it in others, then I think Bette Middler performed in the Broadway show in a later season.

It’s also the movie George keeps for an extra day because it’s cheaper than paying the fee because he didn’t rewind it. (This show is ancient) Then it gets stolen from the car with the b.o.

It was also the movie that George rented (he described it as having 'side-al nudity'), and it was stolen from Jerry's car, and the replacement cost was ~$100.

Yeah, I remember the BO car, the end of the episode Jerry drives to a sketchy neighborhood, rolls down the window, and tosses the keys inside to invite someone to steal it. I just don't remember that movie subplot.

It isn't so much about the subplot, just how many times they said Rochelle Rochelle, a young girl's erotic journey from Milan to Minsk. I never watched in syndication, but this shit is imprinted deep.

I don’t know man, it just never ended up sticking in my memory. I’ll probably have to one of these days rewatch the series, like have that be my “still up at 10:45” comedy to stream before bed.

This is where I'm at... I REALLY don't like Curb Your Enthusiasm, because it dials up the "you're not supposed to like these characters" schtik to an unbearable level (for me), but Seinfeld got pretty tiresome to me after a couple of seasons.

I think part of it with Seinfeld is that NYC/big city life is such a big part of it, and I had zero exposure to cities at that point in my life.

Don't dis Hooterville.

I loved "Green Acres," used to watch it stoned and enjoyed it as a surreal, absurdist comedy.

Well, I'm trying to think of other shows I watched to refute this. I loved Cheers. Set in a city, but really 99% happened in the same room. I loved Night Court. Same thing. I love Friends and its a bit of both, but the apartment/coffee shop dynamic didn't seem too far fetched (insert $20,000/month apartment joke). Fresh Prince had variety of sets, but it still didn't' feel like the city was a character the way that seinfeld felt.

But also...not as jewy, I suppose.

Hey, I loved Mad about You! Reiser is jewish, right? That makes me not an anti-semite, right? I have Jewish friends (on the internet)!

Schitt's Creek is ostensibly about a Jewish (and formerly very rich) family. One of my all time favorites shows of the last decade. The Goldbergs features a Jewish family and was in my every-week rotation for many years (ran out of steam for me, but I'm a broken record on the shelf life of how many seasons I'll put up with ANY show.)

So, I know the Jewy thing was (mostly) a joke, but it certainly has nothing to do with why I don't like Curb and got tired of Seinfeld.

ETA - I also really liked Mad About You, for the record.
