By the way, the John Means' no-hitter for the Os against Seattle in Seattle was on May 5.

That is also the last road game the Orioles have won.

My only real take on any of this spider tack stuff is that MLB should be moving heaven and earth to make pitching worse/less effective.

MadBum's no-hitter that wasn't (you know, the seven-inning variety because of the double header rules) in Atlanta was on April 25th.

That is also the last road game the D-Backs have won.

Yeah if you're scoring at home, that's 18 losses for the Os, including tonight. and 21 losses for the D-backs, not including tonight, they are down 6-2 early.

Kinda awesome watching Altuve end one game with a grand slam and start the very next one with a leadoff HR. Swangin' and bangin'!

Pirates played the Marlins a couple of weeks ago so they're only at 10 losses in a row, I think.

I guess it was kinda historically awesome because that's the first time that has happened in MLB history.

I’ll take “teams who couldn’t hold on to a lead if it was glued onto their face like Cliff Clavin’s fake beard” for $2000 Alex.

This is fucking uncanny. Goddamnit.

But at least we got to see Nola tie a 53-year old record, held by a guy whose number is worn on the opposing team's sleeve this year.

I really thought they would lose both ends of a double header without giving up an earned run.

Possible Irony Thread alert: Phils announce Neris has been removed from the closer role. Two relievers blow save chances, one in each of the double header games, and Neris comes in to record the save in the nightcap.

Rinse, repeat. This team is testing my patience as a Philadelphia sports fan. Maybe if this line-up could produce more than 1.9 runs per game or whatever, the bullpen could pitch with a little cushion, but what the fuck do I know.

Hector Santiago is the first player to be ejected for violating MLB’s new foreign-substance policy.

Santiago said he wasn't using anything sticky when his glove was confiscated and he was ejected. He said it was a combination of rosin and sweat. He has not been told whether he will be suspended or not.

I think I read it was Phil Cuzzi so I’ll assume the ejection was wrong.

First hit by the Buccos to lead off the 9th, by a player hitting .140. Immediately erased on a DP, then an easy grounder to end it. Marquez settles for the CG ShO 1-hitter.

After the police in Tallahassee failed to investigate the local college football team's star QB's rape accusation, I'm OK with it reaching the public domain.

It's both. For one, the police can't hide from it, and two, the red flags re: his treatment towards women on social media were there for all to see. The fact he (in his statement) admitted to being a deviant, sexual sadist is chilling; the fact he forced a previously consensual woman into a knocked-the-fuck-out with multiple skull fractures, forced anal sex situation is downright horrifying.

He needed his reputation to be ruined to stop him from doing this to somebody else.

The details in the Athletic are disgusting. Setting up a safe word, and then beating her unconcious? He needs to be put in prison, for a long time.

That’s a power thing. He wanted to see the look in her eyes when he no longer responded to the safe word.

In all seriousness, that’s where the safe word is supposed to come into play, I would think. But for goddamn sure, seems to me you better trust your partner on a base fundamental level to assume they will abide by said safe word ground rules.

Suffice it to say, Trevor Bauer doesn’t seem like the kind of person that should be so trusted. Pretty easy to believe this woman.

Easiest possible guy to not defend unless you're a complete (unmoderated) lunatic. You could walk to the playoffs without him, he's only been there for 3 months, and he's already known as a polarizing dingus.
