I matched things up but it doesn't make sense to be so much cheaper. Is it a "get you inside the door" rate or is it less overhead vs. allstates agent model?
I think Allstate and State Farm are legacy brands that boomers blindly think will actually have their back when they have a claim, so they charge more. One man's experience with his parents and in laws.
TO update this...once I got all the numbers exactly right we ended up saving $65 total on auto and home per month. Home insurance went up, but honestly with the way house prices have changed and Allstate hadn't updated in a bit it makes sense.

Now If I can just get one of these cars off and into a policy for the oldest we will save another hunk o change, too. Get off the parental draw, kid!

Not sure there is a odder looking vehicle than the Ford Mustang SUV. Internet pictures don't do it justice. Just an eyesore.

I think it was meant to be a posche suv analog or something, but it doesn't work for me.

The electric one? My guess is they just tried to compete with the model X and Y.

The Mach 3? I like the glowing mustang on the front.
Have not looked closely at it but kinda liked the car when I drive past it (I really only see the head on view).
On the other hand my first car was a Subaru XT and I thought it was cool.

My neighbor has one. Looked weird the first time I saw it, but I kind of like it now. I did laugh that they called it a Mustang though.

Bought this today. 2021 with under 18k miles for 25k. Not what I was shopping for but all the CRV's, MX9's, and RAV4's for that price had like over 50k on them. I kind of dig the color. What u think?

Back in my Saturn Vue days I definitely got rear-ended by a lady in PT Cruiser and I'm pretty sure it was bright orange and I definitely mentioned it on here (must have been pre-nuSwamp) and I'm pretty sure GPJ was so inspired by the sheer lameness of that collision that he couldn't help but recreate it in MS Paint. If you have a folder laying around with 10+ year old .bmps it might be there.

So last Saturday night, coming home from a charity golf tournament and subsequent banquet, my first time driving my new car at night. My 2005 MDX didn't have auto lights so I'm used to getting in at night and turning the headlights on. I turned them off and I didn't even know because the dash lights are always on and it has these bright-ass led fog lights that are always on that I just thought were headlights.

Anyway, got pulled over by state trooper, I laughed and explained the light thing but nonetheless...blew a .12. Fucking horrible feeling. Had arraignment today which quelled my anxiety a little bit but it's gonna be enough to absolutely ensure I never do that again, which is good for everyone I suppose.

Are they likely to revoke your license? That would suck. Also, it will be "interesting" to see if your insurer increases your rates much.

License suspended for 30 days starting Thursday so you guys are gonna be sick of me again in no time.

No they changed the law like a year ago so you don't report it to insurance. Hoping to get the criminal charge dismissed anyway.

Fuck, dude. As a guy who makes it a point to be the DD as often as I can for my friends (honestly, I hate getting drunk or even drinking more than 1), I can't be sympathetic at all.

Double especially since, as an active duty military member, a DUI would've ended my career.

I just made it a point to myself to never drink on base or if I knew I had to drive.

So, yea. That sucks, but...it's probably for the best.

Fuuuuuuck. Is that 30 days an administrative suspension?

Oh I'm not digging for that at all if it came across that way. I deserve all the shame. I can self-impose that better than anyone though.

I'm sympathetic to Jerloma because I think we've all been there, which doesn't "excuse" anything, but no one was hurt and that's why laws exist in the first place. I've never had one and even as I get smarter as I get older about Uber, etc. there but for the grace of G-d (parable for you, J-dog!) go I.

My level of sympathy depends on the number of drinks consumed. I should probably have a better idea of the number of drinks consumed over number of hours to know the limit. I rarely have more than one drink if I'm driving, but sometimes a Swamper sends a bottle of Hennesy White, it'd be rude not to try it. Even if you already had some sangria and a beer or two, that was more than 5 or 6 hours, so I'm good, right?

They lowered the BAC level to 0.05 here a couple of years ago. It's terrible because I can't even have more than a couple of beers with my son if either of us is driving.

(Of course, soon after the legislature lowered the BAC level, they passed a bunch of laws preventing local governments and businesses from requiring masks or vaccinations because those impinged on personal freedom.)
