I just had a really grim thought, so I'm going to put it in spoilers if you're not feeling it.
[+] spoiler
So I was thinking back to 9/11. There was an 18-minute gap between the first plane strike on the North Tower and the second strike on the South Tower. There were at least one and probably multiple security people in the South Tower that after the first strike recommended people stay in their offices. The training that they had and the knowledge from years of security experience would dictate that staying put was probably the right call. Ultimately about 650 employees in the South Tower perished, including many who were in the sky lobby, which the second plane struck almost completely. Those security experts were working on the best knowledge and skill they knew, and probably many if not anyone in the same position would have reasonably made the same call. Yet their call likely also cost lives of employees who would've evacuated at first notice. Those poor bastards have probably had countless sleepless nights since, wracked by survivor's guilt, and thousands of dollars worth of therapy for their decision, which again, was totally reasonable at the time.

TFG's failures cost, what, 200,000 American lives due to COVID? At least? And do you think TFG has even spent a moment in contemplation about the gravity of his decisions? Every time I think of this I just it just infuriates me.

One really nice thing on my recent 10 hour flight was knowing that everybody on the plane had to have passed a Covid test no more than one day before the flight.

Well, home rapid test came back positive. Getting PCR done tomorrow to verify. Feeling like ass right now. Mainly just sinus congestion and headache. Some aches and pains, but nothing out of the ordinary. Shit.

This is why I'm probably going to booster until it's declared a cold.

My unsolicited two cents is coconut water. Get better, duff!

I've given Coconut water several chances and it just isn't my bag. Tastes like someone mentioned a pina colada in a text message a week ago.

Pretty sure I just pissed hot as well. The line is faint, but definitely there. Felt a bit bad yesterday, like a cold coming on, and I must've had a fever while I was sleeping. Otherwise, I feel ok.

Is there a Covid piss test or are you pregnant?

I'll be at a (local) conference organized by my company, not in the office. Not going to lie, being just a little more than 3 weeks off of having COVID is making me a lot more comfortable with this whole thing than I otherwise would be.
Quoting myself from the Office Etiquette thread a week ago.

I heard second or thirdhand rumblings over the weekend of coworkers testing positive by the end of last week, but this morning was the first time someone publicly announced they were sick. There was almost no masking (including the hotel staff) and no social distancing and so very many buffets. Might be a rough week.

I heard from another coworker who is positive, and the company sent out an email to everyone who attended letting them know there have been cases post-conference and asking everyone to avoid coming into the office until 5/25, along with boilerplate symptoms/testing text. Great.

It's weird, cases are skyrocketing, and it's like nobody cares anymore. Hospitals are full again. Our mayor used to give a daily updates, which turned to weekly a couple months ago, and abruptly stopped. I know a lot of people testing positive with symptoms, but I think a lot are home testing and probably not reporting.

Right on that last point. We had 3 or 4 in our house and only I would have been counted since I was the first and went in to confirm. Only way my oldest would count is if the school's pass along data which I imagine they don't.

Yeah.

We also just got our first COVID notification from the middle school since February. 5 students, 3 staff. And the oldest's BF at school with whom she shares a bunch of classes apparently popped over the weekend, too.

So yeah.

They have a dashboard on their site that is updated daily. Not sure what the threshold is to trigger an email but seems we crossed it.

1st day back in the office. Tried going in yesterday, but started to have a panic attack. My train of thought was why am I going into an area with no one taking precautions and possibly putting them at risk, but have seen my family a total of 20 minutes in 8 days. I know more than enough people that are okay with that situation, but I am not one of them.

Good news is that I am feeling 100% better than a week ago. The meds I am on cause a horrible taste in my mouth that I can't shake. I can deal with that over any other symptoms.

There's a Chief Master Sergeant posting on her Instagram stories, in uniform, her 'fight' against mandatory vaccinations.
[+] spoiler
She's also an Arbonne 'Boss Babe' and Jesus nutter. It was her posts on Facebook after Trump got elected that made me nuke it because she's a moonbat, obviously. She wouldn't hesitate to turn in others, so, yea.

I've made an inquiry to the Keesler AFB Inspector General's hotline. So I hope something happens. She's willing to shitcan an entire military career over a shot. It's disgraceful.

If anyone's bored...

And there's kind of a TMZ-esque Air Force page you can send stuff to. I don't want to do that because I'm still in, but if you want to I'll send you the page.

Ok, so two other friends and two other family members all tested positive just today. None of us have been around each other. That’s more positives in my immediate circle than ever before in this thing.

So Thursday and Friday were pretty shitty. Fever Fatigue and some Drainage. Not sure why I capitalized. Started feeling decent Saturday and fine Sunday/Monday other than some leftover fatigue, but nothing an early night or two couldn't help. Back in the office but staying in my hole and wearing a mask rest of week if around other people.

Well I still had sniffles and a cough so I decided to be safe rather than sorry and went to nurse station. Still positive and if I weren’t having symptoms I would have been fine to stay but with symptoms I was sent home for rest of week. Fun!
