Rotation obviously has to happen but hoping it's not Lletget. Curious to see the general mentality for this one. Really want us to put the boot down on the table and go for 3, but worried we'll come out soft and justify some draw bs.

Right - I worry that GGG will revert and play for a point. I want 3.

Jamaicans have been so bad they have to go for the 3. Yeah, the pitch will be shit -- so what. Attack, attack, attack.

Mexicans are going to wing it tomorrow. They are still in Indianapolis. I think they leave tonight.

It's going to be cold. If I had tickets I'd have decision to make. I don't mind being in shit weather during the match, I would just dress appropriately. But I would be concerned about the freezing rain forecast for three hour drive up and back.

Looks like Italy are headed to the playoffs as they now need two goals in the final 10 minutes, and that's if Switzerland don't score more.

Would be so awesome if they didn't qualify but I'm sure UEFA will fix the draw to avoid any especially dangerous teams in a two-game playoff.

You forgot that Italy failed to qualify last time! Italy might not be seeded (the 6 best 2nd place teams) as their performance has been poor.
The second round (play-offs) will be contested by the ten group runners-up and the best two Nations League group winners, based on the Nations League overall ranking, who finished outside the top two of their qualifying group. They will be separated into three play-off paths, with each path featuring two single-leg semi-finals and one single-leg final. The semi-finals will be hosted by the six best-ranked runners-up of the qualifying group stage, while the host of the final will be determined by a draw The semi-finals will be played on 24–25 March, and the finals on 28–29 March 2022. The winners of each path will qualify for the World Cup.

Seeded teams are: Portugal, Scotland, Russia, Italy, Sweden and Poland
Unseeded teams are: Wales, North Macedonia, Turkey, Finland, Austria, Czech Rep.

Although if Poland and Wales both win tomorrow, they could bump Sweden.

My alma mater got knocked out of the D3 tourney in a snowstorm in Ohio yesterday.

Just sayin' they might actually be training in the snow after all.

Thing is, Canadian players don't usually play in freezing rain.

But my God - what a psychological advantage. I mean, Edmonton sucks balls even in the summer. Once Hallowe'en hits, you want no part of that place. It's Alberta... but without the natural beauty.

And speaking of Canada, clearly the best team in the world at the moment. Or at least close, according to this Facebook post by one of the CMNT fan club members...

Just remember that the #58 Northern Ireland team that held Italy today had deceptive quality and is proof of the difficulty of UEFA qualifying while the #59 Jamaica team that will hold USA tomorrow is garbage!

The Mexicans have let this become a thing after 2 cycles in a row of getting waxed in Columbus back in the early 2000s. It's totally fine for the "gringos" to play in 80 degree, 80 percent humidity, high altitude and smog, but God forbid it's cold as fuck with snow in the air. Same difference, really. Suck it Mexico.

We have learned to CONCACAF. Saw this rumor going around. Heard Canada Soccer booked up all the domes in Edmonton last night and gave them to youth teams.

If that is true how does FIFA/Concacaf not have minimum hosting standards..I mean even the NCAA D3 tournament prevents these types of shenanigans (my senior year we got to host a 2nd round NCAA game because the higher seed we were playing did not provide proper locker rooms and practice fields in previous years.

but I do love it. Hope there some Canadians with big snow proof speakers blasting C. Dion, Tragically hip, and barenaked ladies at their rooms too.

I think there are standards and you have to provide a facility. But does it say anything about indoor/outdoor and weather? The Mexicans could have practice outside, even at commonwealth itself. It doesn't help that they didn't arrive at Edmonton until 7pm.

We want Mexico to win, right? Under the assumption they'll qualify no matter what, our preferred scenario is one where the other six teams are cycling through wins against each other while us and them establish a gap between the top 2 and everyone else?

From a pure standings perspective, I was thinking a tie is best, but maybe you are right, better one team gets no point. From a bigger perspective, I'm always rooting for Mexico to lose, because fuck Mexico soccer, and I like this Canadian team. I actually think it'll be pretty cool if Canada becomes competitive and we can develop a rivalry. More competition will be good out program.

Lets hold off on Canada rising up until we've made 2022. Last cycle still far too prominent in my brain (despite the fact that Feilhaber(!) subbed in during the T&T match).

I've said it before... This youth movement, combined with Mexico getting old AF and not nearly the pipeline coming up that we have... We are the best team in this region and will be so for many years to come.

Go Canada, Fuck Mexico. We don't need any help from anyone.

I'd watch on Telemundo just because it'll be hilarious to listen to the Mexican announcers complain about the conditions. Even if you don't speak Spanish it's gonna be evident.

Here's the thing, if it's a complete snow game, it doesn't help either side that much.

It's one thing to wreck their soul with cold. It's quite another to turn the field into a slip-n-slide. That's just yakkety sax soccer and a coin flip.

Folks that don't have access to Paramount, check to see exactly which of the Universo family is airing the US game. On my YouTubeTv I think it's on Unimas, not Telemundo, per se.
