I’ll have to check that book out. I’ve thought about becoming a serial killer myself but I’d only kill other truckers.

You could be a vigilante serial killer trucker who only kills serial killing truckers.

So sitting in a pastry shop in Plentiza (Spain) and my phone just indicated that the song playing over the speaker is "Meet Me Half Way There" by Kenny Lggins from the over the top soundtrack.

So one weird quirk of this job is if a shipper makes a small mistake in a shipment it’s not worth the time and money to send the product back to them so we get to keep it so ended up with two cases of Special K Bananas & crème cereal.

(I’m going to just put it in our terminal for whomever to take a box or two. If I were in Vegas I’d drive it down to the food bank but not worth it taking up the room in my cab.)

Sorry to say this but looks like my trucking career might be over prematurely.

Some context. Company has a strict rule of three at-fault incidents and then termination. I unfortunately had two minor backing incidents first three months but had kind of stabilized things but on I-80 a couple days ago some guy in the next lane over clipped my mirror. I argued and have been arguing that this is a not-responsible accident but looks like they’re going to say I’m responsible.

Only reason I don’t know for sure yet is I’m in the middle of a run heading back to Vegas Saturday and they’re not gonna come out and say it out of fear I’ll abandon the truck or worse but looking like this is the end.

With getting dismissed from one of the shittiest companies in the country for too many accidents my future job prospects are essentially nil so that as they say appears to be that.

So. Not good times.

I was in the edge of my lane because of a breakdown. The real issue is the other guy was going way too fast for the situation in my opinion but again my opinion means fuckall.

I could just be being overly fatalistic. My safety manager says it should be marked as non-preventable but he doesn’t get final say. My driver app is showing it being marked as preventable though and they’re likely stringing me along to make sure they get their truck back to Vegas.

Got my load assigned out of town for Wednesday so looks like a dodged a bullet but I’m going to have to consider moving on because this opened my eyes to how a 50/50 decision by one random person can basically screw me

Not the people by and large. The road quality is garbage, other drivers are garbage (they drive either 15 mph under or over the limit somehow) and it’s no fun driving in the mountains. Also the places where you pickup and drop off loads suck worse than other states and I’m not sure why.

Okay new Brian question. The double trailer setup. Do you need special training for that? Also are they more likely to end in a tragic situation than a single trailer setup.

Yeah you need to have that specific endorsement on your CDL. I don’t think they’re inherently more dangerous. The requirement of the additional endorsement probably means they’re even a bit safer than a “standard” CDL. Honestly if the general public knew just what kind of degenerate was driving a random 18-wheeler you’d probably not want to be anywhere near one on the highways. My eyes are opened.

Are the lanes narrower in the older sections of CO freeways? It always felt that way to me.

Are you able to enjoy scenery going through the Swell on I-70, or is that just miserable because of the grades?

I will never have a job more interesting than that for sure. And the open was way down the list of interesting things. Too bad the pay was shit and the hours still fairly long. I think the salary could have been livable outside of a big city.

See I see that and I just see a jackass doing an unnecessary maneuver when there’s an open space there on the right that allows an easy 45 degree back (albeit a blindside)
