I'm down with another Swamp golf outing, but I'll never play Shaker Run again. F those guys.

Maybe we could run up the street a ways and play Heatherwoode, which is an outstanding course, or hit some courses around Dayton.

Of course today is a fabulous day.

I would have played. I'd play in anything plus beer solves everything, makes the day better.
But from what I heard, the fairways were flooded and the greens would have been destroyed if we walked on it.

The course has a PGA Tour Canada tournament in 2 weeks.

I would probably be in, as long as an old, fat CPA is welcome. It would be nice to play a course where a GPS is not necessary. Half of my shots at Shaker Run were blind, it seemed. (If not before, afterward.)

Could someone explain to me, how a batter could have a walk-off triple? I can understand a walk-off hit, but a triple? Or even a double? Walk-off home run? Fine.

Was the winning run on first? And slower than the batter? isn't it based on the last base the batter touched before the run scored? It does seem rather unlikely.

Tie game, triple, throwing error, ball goes out of play, allows him to advance to score, walking casually.

SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. (AP) — Officials at a small school district in upstate New York say an "honest mistake" led to students being identified in the yearbook as "Creepy smile kid" and "Some tall guy."
The labels appear in photo captions of the high school yearbook at Hoosic Valley, a rural district 20 miles northeast of Albany.
Acting Superintendent Amy Goodell tells the Troy Record (http://bit.ly/122a274" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) a "non-intentional, honest mistake" resulted in some members of the track and field team being labeled with made-up names such as "Isolation kid." Several students were identified simply as "Someone."
Goodell says corrections are being made and the parents of students whose names weren't published correctly have been contacted.
The high school has about 380 students, with a graduating class of fewer than 100.

Upon further review, I can see how a person would continue running. Runners on first and second base, with less than 2 outs. If a throw is made to home, and the runner is out, at least the person would be on third base, with the winning run.

I still hate the term walk-off. Game-winning, OK. Walk-off for a home run, or a ground-rule double is fine with me, in that a person could actually walk.

Semantics.

Doesn't "walk off" refer to the pitcher having to leave the mound because he lost the game? At least that's what I heard the other day on SportsCenter.

OK, fine. The defense walks off.

In another situation, if there is a strikeout, and the pitcher gets a win or save, the team on the field wins. They also walk off.

Got this email yesterday. Are minor league baseball games 5 inning now or something?
From: Tom Linehan <tlinehan@pawsox.com>
Date: June 13, 2013, 8:01:57 PM EDT
To: Tom Linehan <tlinehan@pawsox.com>
Subject: Important Info--Friday Nights PawSox Game

Good Evening Everyone

Tonight’s (Thursday June 13th) has been rained out. Because of this rain out we now have to play a double header (two 7 inning games) tomorrow (Friday night) beginning at 5:35pm. The tickets you have purchased for the Most Improved ceremony are good for both games tomorrow, however because of the rain out we have to push back the ceremony which will now occur after the first game has been completed (most likely between 6:30 and 7:30pm). While we do not have a definite time that will happen you can arrive at anytime after 5:35pm and watch the first game and we will make an announcement towards the end of the first game directing all students to a certain location to line up for the ceremony. After the ceremony you can stay around and watch the second game which will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we look forward to having you at the ballpark tomorrow night.

Get this. I'm having a garage sale on the weekend to get rid of as much stuff as possible before moving. And I just advertised it maybe an hour ago. Twenty minutes ago some guy knocks on my door wondering if he can get a look at everything now.

Fuck me. "Dude, you're about 18 hours early."

Apparently that sort of thing is not unusual. Sheesh.

I sent the guy away. But reading other Garage Sale ads on local sites, written by people far more yard sale savvy than I, a common line is "Early birds pay double." I can see why they'd stipulate that; some of these people are shameless.
