Jesus. That's a hell of a story. Really sorry for you and your family, Steve. Hope it was a bit cathartic to type it all out, at least.

It was a good almost eight-month run. Thanks, Florida.
If I have to be this kind of statistical anomaly, why can't it take the form of Powerball?

Florida had to re-assert its dominance over Ohio.
Had I known after my first bout, I would have been able use the Florida v. Ohio thread.
And, no, I'm not interested in trying to break the tie.

Just imagine the carnage if the Stand-Your-Ground types believed Covid was real.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I had Colorado Covid a few weeks back, which basically involves gummy-ing yourself into a fugue state and watching movies for a week.

I have a dinner with 2000 of my closest associates tonight. I may hold my breath the entire time.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Ah, yeah, so... My 3+ year run of not getting this thing came to an end a few weeks ago. Multiple flights (Chicago and Denver) and must've picked it up on one of those.
Felt like complete butt on Day 1 (really weak, feverish) but by Day 3 and 4, almost completely over it.

The NIH got that money or "the scientists" and Fauci got it? It's an important distinction.

'Royalties'? Did they drop an album or something?
Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
Might be what a govt entity contracts for when they fund your extremely expensive and uncertain R&D. And yes, it had better be going to the govt entity and not individuals but seems really really unlikely to funnel into officials pockets
Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
Seems more like IP licensing royalties. And yes individuals pockets apparently.

Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
Counterpoint.
Yahoo News wrote:New York Representative Nicole Malliotakis tried—and failed—to implicate the infectious diseases expert in a popular conspiracy theory, including that he had received royalties from pharmaceutical companies for coronavirus-related medications and vaccines.
“How much have you earned in royalties from pharmaceutical companies since the pandemic began in 2021?” asked Malliotakis.
“Zero,” replied Fauci.
The New York Republican then proceeded to read a headline in front of her, citing that an “NIH scientist had made $710 million from drugmakers.” “You’re saying that you did not receive any of the $710 million?” she pressed.
Fauci knew exactly how much he had made: just $122 for a somewhat unrelated monoclonal antibody that he had patented decades prior. But Malliotakis wasn’t satisfied with that. Instead, she attempted to corner Fauci on any royalties—not necessarily related to Covid—that he had received over the course of the pandemic, and whether any of the $710 million had gone to him.
“I think none,” Fauci said before fending off bubbling interruptions from the Trump ally. “No—I’m on the record, and I want to make sure that this is clear: that I developed a monoclonal antibody about 25 years ago that’s used as a diagnostic that has nothing to do with Covid, and I receive about $120 a year from that patent.”
Later, Arizona Representative Debbie Lesko attempted to frame Fauci for allegedly participating in a series of emails that discussed suppressing the “lab leak theory” for Covid without realizing that the emails don’t actually exist.
“You said about four or five things, Congressman, that were just not true,” Fauci responded after Lesko laid out her theory.
“Well, we have emails to prove it,” Lesko said.
“But you don’t,” he said, before Maryland Representative Kweisi Mfume interjected to correct Lesko that “no, we don’t have it.”
“I get tired of hearing ‘We got it,’ and then when we ask for it, it’s not there. We do not have it,” Mfume said. “That’s just incorrect.”

Not for anything, fellas, but am I the only one here that sees a stink raised by a supporter of TFG and immediately assumes it's false? The boy who cried wolf situation playing out?

No, you’re not the only one. I assume it’s bullshit or trivial until proven otherwise.
