That sure helps the 4.5.

1-0 now but there’s no way anyone in power can see the hiring of Hayes and then this mess and think Berhalter in 2026 is a responsible choice.

I am remaining steadfast in my point while now being invested in PDX’s 4.5.

3 goals was the bare minimum tonight, I don't care how stupidly they got them.

I assume it would have been a merely frustrating one-off if I didn't already have "a slight bias" going in.

My thoughts on the game are that the US made the right adjustments but probably should have made them sooner, and sometimes it doesn’t matter. TNT went into a bunker literally 30 seconds into the game and never left it until it was 2-0. The second leg will be interesting, just hopefully not that interesting.

I thought the obvious adjustment they needed to make was to stop lofting in crosses all day when you don't have any capable targets on the field and the only advantage T&T had over us were defenders taller than our attackers. If you are going to play constant crosses, start Pepi, not Balogun. How fucking hard is this?

So far it looks like TNT is just here so they don’t get fined.

(Am I talking about the team or the network? Very much yes.)

I've seen the double yellow for dissent many times...

In indoor soccer or beer league matches where guys were clearly just tired and didn't want to run anymore.

That was a stunningly moronic display. WTF isn't even close to covering that.

I'm not worried about the result, really, but that act is just fucking unreal.

At a bare minimum, you are making everyone work much MUCH harder. These are professionals that don't need the added stress to the body.

Fucking what?

I hope they got him away from the locker room.

JFC. WTF.

Right. Neither Ream or Turner looked remotely done with him, just delaying it. Just inexplicable.

I was thinking about that before the game, like how the typical CONCACAF grounds maintenance strategy backfires against you in a 2-leg tournament round where you need goals. Didn’t think it was going to matter tonight, but it got close a couple of times.

“Berhalter Calls Out Dest For ‘Dumb Mistake’ In Loss” is misleading on a minimum of two levels. And also now no one can accuse me of past or future bias because I can point to this Pro-Greggggggg comment.

Found this roundtable with Altidore, Dempsey, Edu and Davies interesting.

Upshot is very real discussion about MLS vs. Europe... Bottom line is that, yes, you can have an impact on the national team coming from MLS... But it's the exception not the rule. Players need to go to Europe to test themselves.

I know this is an obvious point, but it's refreshing to see actual players saying what we all know to be true.

I think that was part of the pregame before one of the recent games. The CBS/Paramount+ coverage is the worst. Or I am just old.....but the casual and buddy buddy inside joke stuff drives me crazy. It is like they looked at the Fox football pregame and Inside the NBA and said....let's do that but way less professional.
