Scary how easy it is to find out people's addresses. Now I need to look up The Wrens... (I was just in his neighborhood Sunday!)

Damn bagel place was hopping again on Sunday. I'm such a lemming/muppet that I'm pretty sure I'm going to talk myself into trying it at some point.

Unless there's a secret time when people know they can show and get them right out of the oven, I think its more "this is the better bagel place in my town and there's no room to stand inside" than a must have. I'd love to find out I'm wrong.

See, if I stop and pick one up on my run it will be another 5 or 6 miles before I get home and can eat it so I might not even get the full experience.

Too bad there's no option other than "pick up one bagel and then run home to eat it".

If you're running away from Seton Hall past the bagels, just go to the light, make a right and that lot there is usually empty.

Stopped at Sonny’s this morning. Had planned on doing so from the start, but this was the first time since I’ve added SO Ave to my route that there wasn’t a line, so lucky me. Two plain and two everything (one of the latter was for me). Despite it being a solidly fall morning they were still warm when I made it home 45 minutes or so later.

Nothing world-changing, but they make a really good bagel. Made a veggie cream cheese with hot peppers from plants that are still hanging on in the garden.

Speaking of each other’s towns, I had a pretty elaborate story about how Union and the Valero were feuding for years but once they came to a peace agreement, Union turned the cannon away from the gas station as a show of good faith. I think I almost had the 6 year old but she saw through me.

Someone crashed through that little display a month or two ago. Took out one of the cannons.

Agree. We went to Wildwood a few years ago the Thursday before Memorial Day, it was fantastic. Everything was open, but it was empty. Stayed through Saturday, and the crowds were unbearable.

I’ve been sitting 100 feet from the ocean reading for like an hour and a half and maybe ten people total have walked by.

That's too bad.

On a nicer note, you can drive a bit up (down?) the road there and hit Namkeen this weekend for a celebratory first anniversary ice cream sandwich.

I planned my car brake service on finishing around lunch so I can finally try Namkeen. Very disappointed to hear Slamwich went under. Fantastic food. A bit pricey, though. Both times I went they were pretty busy, but that was pre-COVID.

That place I've never been to. Was it better or different than Mia Famiglia (again sort of up the street)?

Haven't been to Mia Famiglia but I'll add it to the list to try. They were solid/good, all dependent on how the bread (which I'm pretty sure was in-house) was that day.

Ok, I'm doing Mia Famiglia today because Sparo's in Montclair is a bit too much of a drive if I don't need to do something else in Montclair. Is there a go-to order there?

I've only ever had sandwiches (a couple of their Italian sub variations and the eggplant wedge), and olives.

The wedge is great. Usually on focaccia, but the day I got it it was on a roll because they ran out of the focaccia. Still very good. I usually get ham, salami, mutz, l,t,o, roasted red peppers, o&v. Always a solid sandwich.

Since this thread is getting all of the action today anyway…. Yikes?

That’s the largest paper in North Jersey (if not all of NJ?) choosing not to directly cover the only major professional sports team with NJ in its name.

Such a shitty company. (Apologies to Mr. D, the employees are fine, the management are shit.)

Surprised anyone noticed ; )

(I had no idea, that sort of thing is well outside anything I touch, but also if there's one team I've ever been close to that can do without anything but targeted superfan coverage, its probably the Devils. Nobody here gives a fraction of a shit about them.)

Truth. I rarely see anyone wearing Devils attire. I went to a game once, had to go with a client. Arena was almost completely empty. It was really weird and eerie.

She’s towering over the recently demolished site of our town’s only strip club (shout-out cerrano’s bachelor party, the only time I was there, a couple of years before I moved to town).

A mile or two down the same highway there is another billboard for a realtor named Cat Gomes (Cat Gomes Sells Homes). That one is much more chaste, just a yearbook worthy headshot. I wonder if they’re related.
