Schatz is positing a straw man.

I’m not sure what fucking planet some of you guys live on but USAID isn’t very popular even amongst Dems. I don’t agree with that but I’m also aware enough to realize I’m not the center of the motherfucking universe.

Come join those of us living here in the real world and actually fucking maybe do something instead of being a keyboard warrior attacking people who 99 percent agree with you.

You might like it.

Have any of you ever really had to work within a political system? Or even read at least something like Sun Tzu?

You’re a fucking dilettante at best. If the rank and file are like Enoch and Delaware we’re even more fucked than I wanted to admit.

Bitch and moan here and on Facebook but when the rubber meets the road and it’s time for a national strike or targeted political action it’ll be one excuse or another.

Mortgages got to be paid after all. And there’s the car payments and the kids college fund….

Or read Shirer’s Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich? Germany’s Social Democrats effectively neutered themselves as opposition by refusing to meet the SA with violence.

So you’re saying you want to try to mobilize the effectively neutral part of the populace to potentially respond with violence over cutting aid to the Third World?

Read a fucking book, man.

brian, I have stayed out of this, but, hey, friend. it isn't about USAID, really. The real issue, and the one that Schatz is correctly pointing out, and the one that the fucking dem pollsters and Jeffries and the other alleged deep thinkers on the DNC bench are missing, is that this isn't about USAID, it is about the dems doing effectively nothing and raising no attempt to slow down that the admin through the unelected nazi Elon Musk in particular are literally IGNORING THE LAW. That is where the fight is. If you allow them to ignore the law over USAID, but plan on getting all mad about it when they ignore the law in ending Medicaid, or putting people in camps, or in only enforcing taxes on people who vote Dem, or any other thing which might seem far-fetched but, really, no longer is, you have already lost the battle.

You (general you, not you specifically) cannot CANNOT CANNOT allow them to ignore the law now and then make the argument they can't ignore the law later on something deemed more important to the public. you've already allowed it, at that point, they will just keep doing it.

The rule of law is dying. You try to save it when there is still a beat on the monitor. You let this go now over USAID, and it flatlines and grabbing the paddles at that point when they come for social security or the like is too fucking little, too fucking late.

USAID was funded and authorized by Congress for the current fiscal year. Period. End of story. That is congressional authority pursuant to its spending power, could not be more clear under the constitution. There is a supreme court case that made clear what is happening now is beyond illegal. If the dems keep rolling over now, HERE, at the moment it is happening, they cannot ever hope to stop it when they come to the next thing someone deems more important that polls better. The rule of law either exists or it doesn't. Literally, now you have that battle, you engage the public, you fucking DO YOUR JOB as goddamn elected american officials or they should fucking resign.

Not to too fine a point on this, but threatening to refusing spend funds allocated by Congress (because he was trying to get dirt on a political rival and/or benefiting the dictator of Russia) was the reason TFG was impeached the first time.

The problem is that if the Dems go to the mattresses over USAID — which I hate to reiterate is NOT a remotely popular government program — and lose they don’t get a do-over when it comes time to the next target. You guys must realize that, right?

Am I underestimating TFG and ElMu? I see these guys as soft pussies trying to act tough by bullying. The type that if you stand up to them and you punch them back they fold.

I just look at what Colombia did last week. They stood up to Trump while giving him an escape route. And it worked. I would hope there’s at least someone in the opposition party pointing this out.

"We as the opposition party find that an unelected foreign oligarch spreading his tendrils into the machinery of government unpalatable. So the opposition party will not vote on any spending bills, most specifically ones that fund StarLink, Tesla, and SpaceX. until he is fired."

Deep down, I don't know how many MoCs would do this if they had the gall to do this, considering how many of them would be hurting their own portfolios...

Ok fine they should keep doing what they've been doing, starting when they just let the GOP not confirm a Supreme Court Justice. One of these days, it'll be thing that counts.

You guys can run roughshod all over the laws of the country but just don't do it on anything popular or else

These are minor things not worth fighting.

Isn't this pretty much exactly how the Germans handled Hitler in the '30s?

Didn't the opposition think that they could wait to fight Chavez and Stalin?

You know, the danger is in how he words it. An Executive’s legitimate power. He’s sort of right, but if the Judge declares his action Unconstitutional, it’s not legitimate, but they will claim the Judge’s decision illegitimate and the base will all cry that Radical Liberal judges are trying to steal power.

Bigger question, what happens when Trump ignores the judges? Lisa Murkowski could have impeached, but she said Trump learned his lesson and would follow the law. How’s that working, Lisa?

The guy who shut it down is the author of Project 2025. All the cybersecurity at the FBI and Pentagon and now the Wall Street cops. There's so clearly a massive robbery coming and it seems like a blip on the radar.

Oh and more corporate tax cuts coming to be paid for by tariffs, and almost definitely a war and ethnic cleansing of Gaza.

I think we're officially doing fascism and the only thing that can save us is fucking MAGA. Terrifying.
