Funny, I started that about a month or so ago. It’s funny, but by the middle of season 3 I figured I’d kind of seen enough. He doesn’t really change much.

I loved on to a Breaking Bad rewatch and it’s awesome.

Maybe it was because I watched it live and didn't have time to really expect what should happen, but that first episode killed me. It got tedious as the show went on and the characters had to keep doing their same things over, but I loved the first one.

As part of the SNL 50th Anniversary, they gave QuestLove open access to the vault to put together a documentary about the musical performances on SNL. It premieres tonight, and will be available on Peacock tomorrow.

This preview is pretty damn brilliant.

I turned off episode 4 lol. Too much second hand viewer embarrassment to enjoy it. I’m not completely giving up cause I have to get to the “fixins” and “Michael Pena doing a fart noise” scenes where the bloopers kill me.

Damn, that was some fantastic editing. Can you win an Emmy for editing a trailer/preview? Because that was great.

Coincidentally, I watched Saturday Night, the movie about the first episode of SNL on a plane last week and I really liked it. They had John Batiste as Billy Preston getting ready for the show.

Having consumed 6 or more of Sheridan's various TV shows... He simply can't write for women or construct realistic, layered female characters. And Lioness doesn't count, because he's basically writing those women as "out of place in a man's world but they fit in because they are TOUGH!!"

ETA - To be fair, the 1883 (or whatever) and 1923 (or whatever) have pretty good roles for the women.

I’d like to point to the character he played on Yellowstone, especially in the final half season. The fact that he could write that character, let alone cast himself says something. The point of the show was to idolize cowboy life, he plays the greatest cowboy in the land, and makes him a disgustingly arrogant and misogynistic pig.

I've only seen Landman...so maybe his other shows are better/different...but he definitely goes for the "Madonna"(the young Mexican widow that's gonna bang Billy Bob's son eventually)/"Whore"(the Ali Larter character) thing a lot.

And then there's Demi Moore, playing Jon Hamm's wife, who I think has had 4 lines in the 5 episodes I've watched.

The plot overall maybe meandered and let the rest of the production down. I appreciated the end of Bianca’s story until I realized they were setting up another season to resolve everything else. I thought the Brits liked limited series?

So happy I can watch the first episode of second season after this Rockets game.
All you guys hyping The Diplomat undersold this show. I wasn't planning on watching it, but based on the recs here I gave it a shot (Bad Sisters season 2 is a bit of a slog, needed a break). Watched the first episode and couldn't stop! Usually just watch one episode of a show a night, but man this is compelling. Planned on stopping after finishing season 1, but holy fuck, the last last 15 minutes of season 1 was some of the best TV ever. Like Giff said, so happy I didn't need to wait a year.

Rufus Sewell is fantastic in the role, but I can't stop thinking of him as Obergruppenführer Smith from Man in the High Castle. There is just a cunning evil behind his eyes, mixed with a sense of compassion and sadness. Guy is a great actor.

And I'd be remiss not to comment on how amazing Keri Russell's legs are at 48!

In S1 where Mark takes that woman to see Pete's daughter's band play, it becomes apparent that the public is aware of innies at Lumon Industries.

So why does Ricken refer to innies as workies?

Innie and Outtie are the Lumon-approved terms and only used by people who live in Kier. The rest of the world refers to them as Workies and Suities. I had to look it up.

I'm guessing that Ricken would have used the more common verbiage in his book.

There's more to Ricken. Probably a lot more.

Here's some copy pasta from a r/sub I'm following:
[+] spoiler
-i’ve been paying attention to devon and ricken’s interactions. she loves him, it’s obvious, but she’s always constantly being annoyed by him and getting stuck with bullshit he’s dragging her to. why is she with him? genuinely why? i believe there’s a hint as to why from s2e2 -spoilers for s2e2: when devon is talking to outie mark after he snaps back to consciousness, she asks him her name. he replies, “persephone?” i was like, what the fuck? why would he say that? devon replies, “can you spell that?” mark says no, they laugh, and move on.

i believe this is again alluding to devon/ricken’s fate. why would the writers specifically choose to call her persephone? persephone is a greek goddess known for being kidnapped by hades and forced to fall in love and stay with him. i believe this could be alluding to what’s going on with ricken and devon — she is trapped with him, but loves him. simultaneously, hades, who would be representative of ricken/kier, has a lot of connections to death and resurrection in greek mythology.

-we know that permanent innies act weird. i already mentioned how i believe all of ricken’s friends are severed or somehow involved. s2e2 gave another hint to this. when rebeck leaves the party, she says to ricken, “and ricken, please don’t punish the baby. it’s not its fault.” many important things here: 1) why is she assuming ricken would punish a newborn? is he that cruel, is she that stupid (permanent innie), or both? 2) why would she refer to eleanor as “it”? because she’s a permanent innie that doesn’t know better. or 3) she is actually referring to mark as “the baby” — earlier in the season mark’s innie was described as being “just a baby” and she doesn’t want ricken to punish mark for his innie’s offense

-ricken is almost always wearing weird clothes that are out of place in comparison to everyone else — and looks weirdly close to some lumon gear

-ricken and devon are FILTHY rich and we don’t know why. we know he has a handful of books authored and that his parents were moderately successful old money actors (according to ricken’s actor). in this world, where does old money come from? the eagans

-in 1.04, burt is talking to irving. he says to him while quoting kier, “…and through ye, i will whisper on.’ he doesn’t just speak to us through the handbook or the paintings. he finds other ways.” it then immediately cuts to mark reading “the you you are” for the first time

-and finally, this is the most damning piece of evidence i think i’ve found so far. last week, the mods uploaded an official document from “lumon,” a week or so ago as they have been uploading all the official show documents to the subreddit. this specific document was lumon’s guide on how to play the name game. it starts, “It is said that as a young boy, Kier Eagan had a beloved ball which was given to him by a suffering deaf and dumb child in a nearby village.” this is identical to the way ricken opens the you you are: “It’s said that as a child, Wolfgang Mozart killed another boy by slamming his head in a piano.” this implies ricken also wrote the ball game document.
