I love how she was able to completely disrespect and insult Hawley while keeping an even temperament and air of calm politeness. If I said the same thing to Hawley, I'd sound like an angry asshole.

Re: Random Politics
That's not really what she said.
While referring to UnidosUS President Raul Yzaguirre’s work, she commented on the diversity of the Hispanic community.
She said Yzaguirre “helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength.”
There's a subtle but important difference in that wording. But the right got her to apologize, so the headline writers win.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: Random Politics
Dammit, I trusted Iadarola on that. When I read it in context, it's better for sure. But it still has that "white awkwardness" vibe to it. Sucks she apologized.
I wouldn't have apologized. I would've shot myself in the foot, double downed, and shared the photo of Tr*mp with the taco bowl and said "Sorry. Not breakfast tacos. Taco bowls."

So....John Bolton bragging about staging coups...

Jake Tapper not taking a detour and asking a follow up to that is completely ridiculous.

The left has to stop this. Stop overreaching and making awkward, sappy comments with the best of intentions and then having to apologize for those best of intentions. Just speak normally, apologize for nothing.

I'm sorry, people are allowed to speak. She didn't say anything wrong. But we live in a time where both sides love to take quotes out of context to generate clicks.degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 10:35 pm The left has to stop this. Both sides? The National Association of Hispanic Journalists is mad. Does that mean anything? Does that make what she said wrong? Does she have to apologize?Shirley wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 4:46 pmI'm sorry, people are allowed to speak. She didn't say anything wrong. I think John Fetterman might be the only prominent Dem to knows who to run a modern campaign.

Yeah, Fetterman is running an incredible campaign and others should take note. Stop trying to take the high road, those days are gone. If there's blood in the water, pour more in and step on the neck.

I don’t think people hate New Jersey as much as this guy thinks people hate New Jersey
Re: Random Politics
I don’t think the point is “hate New Jersey”. The point is “this guy doesn’t live in Pennsylvania”.

Re: Random Politics
I don’t think anyone gives a shit about that though. It seems like an effort to pander to western PA since they don’t identify with the East Coast. Problem is, people from Pittsburgh are too nice, they don’t hate anybody except for Vontaze Burfict. Who is not from New Jersey.
Re: Random Politics
I guess I can understand it as a bet that Dr. Oz has no personality and will stumble if dragged into a trolling contest, like She Who Must Not Be Named in 2016.

Carpetbagging is REALLY bad from a state/local political standpoint. Period. It's a terrible fucking look/optic and Oz is going to lose because of it. Mark it down.

Re: Random Politics
Agreed. With Oz, I don’t get it, either. Like Hilary moving to NY to run for Senate made sense, but Governor of PA? It’s not like he wants go give back and engage in public service, because he doesn’t even live in PA. Just bizarre. But he always seemed really bizarre.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 8:52 pm Carpetbagging is REALLY bad from a state/local political standpoint. Period. Right, I got confused with Fetterman being Lt Gov. Senator makes slightly more sense for Oz, but not much.

Re: Random Politics
As long as we are talking about bad/scary Republican Senate candidates...what about Blake Masters out in Arizona? I just read this long article about him...and holy crap...
Blake Masters Is Peter Thiel’s Dream Candidate—and a Total Nightmare for Democracy
Blake Masters Is Peter Thiel’s Dream Candidate—and a Total Nightmare for Democracy
n the spring of 2012, Blake Masters, who was in his final year at Stanford Law, sat in on a computer science class taught by Peter Thiel, the billionaire co-founder of PayPal. During a lecture titled “Founder as Victim, Founder as God,” Thiel argued a kinglike leader was essential to innovation. “A startup is basically structured as a monarchy,” he explained. “We don’t call it that, of course. That would seem weirdly outdated, and anything that’s not democracy makes people uncomfortable.”
Afterward, Masters tweeted that the lecture was the best 90 minutes he’d ever spent in a classroom and linked to the exhaustive notes he’d been taking on Thiel’s course. For months, everyone from tech bros to New York Times columnist David Brooks headed to Masters’ Tumblr to read them. It was heady stuff for a CrossFit-obsessed libertarian described by a law school classmate as being “notable for not being notable.”

Yea, he's a piece of shit. I see his signs at every intersection.
His best man and former friends have ripped into him.
He's apparently in the lead for the republican primary too, but luckily Mark Kelly appears to be ahead of all republicans in head to head polls.

In that article it talks about how he talks shit about Mark Kelly being an astronaut. How in the fuck does a snot-faced 35 libertarian fuckwad who's biggest accomplishment is being Peter Thiel's "Chief Of Staff" have the nerve to denigrate an astronaut?

I read that piece and did the wanker gesture to the screen about a dozen times. One thing that did make me smile is that he is described as having a significant amount of wealth in crypto, and I'm sure he thinks he smarter than everyone else and actually has a lot in there, and didn't get out in time when the market crashed because he thought he knew better than everyone.Johnnie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 7:00 pm Yea, he's a piece of shit. Re: Random Politics
The trend of the nuttiest wingnuts winning in GOP primaries is NOT going to work out very well for these fucking morons.
I know I'm a broken record, but have faith my friends. I've been saying it for over 5 years, but it bears repeating: This country isn't the wingnut fringe, that's just who you hear from because they are loud and the media loves to amplify that voice. Lots of hand wringing about Biden and he still won by what would be considered a landslide.
These fucking morons can't help stepping on their own proverbial dicks and nominating a wingnut in MD is a death sentence. This state is one big suburb. They are toast.

Oh, I'm in the same boat as you. Wingnuts (on either side, frankly) can win Congress seats, but it gets more and more difficult up the ladder. The Presidency is different since it favors the GOP due to the fucking EC, but it's still aggravating that these fuckwits have any traction at all.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:17 am The trend of the nuttiest wingnuts winning in GOP primaries is NOT going to work out very well for these fucking morons.
