The whole weekend was just me and rass tying to pay for stuff and yet there was always a surprise yam that kept me a step behind.

The Takeout had an ube post recently that I ran across on twitter.

The coffee shop above sometimes hosts a rotating set of bakers and/or arts/crafts types, and they had mini-ube pies a couple of weekends ago. They were great. And adorable.

I dated two Filipino girls, and they never introduced me to ube. One in particular was all about feeding me traditional Filipino foods. Her chicken adobo was arguably the best homecooked meal I've ever had.

Goes without saying (maybe) but a 72 inch pipe is a MASSIVE water main. Those typically feed significant portions of a given county, let alone a town/village.

By way of context, majority of households have a 1" "main" or lateral connected to something on the street that is typically 8-12 inches. Those then link up to serious pipes, mostly 24 and 36 inches.

72 is considered a transmission main and when those go, the entire system can be fucked. Depending on the size and redundancy built into a system, a transmission main going down can cause no water (duh) and low water pressure (which is effectively the same thing.) But, one (hopefully) very obvious point: it's only going to fuck up a portion of that given water system. Not like folks in other parts of the state are effected. (PPL sometimes get confused and think it's like an electrical grid/system that could cover multiple systems. I deal with a lot of stupid people/citizens.)

Anyone have a DMV they highly recommend to solve a problem that is somewhere between a minor self-inflicted issue and a less minor self-inflicted issue?

Springfield used to suck (made you pay for parking!) and that’s where I last got a license but they’ve moved and I have been since and been going to Rahway for inspections for a while now.

Actually had a great experience calling NJMVC on the phone recently to figure out how to handle a forked car I was planning on donating.

Yeah, I might have to call. I know I'm 4 months past due on inspection. I'm not sure if I'm registered. I'm not sure if I fucked something up mid-pandemic on my lease buyout. I'm very sure if I got pulled over in that car it would be a big deal.

Here if I'm lucky enough not to get a ticket, I can renew at any time. The only penalty is I don't get the full year as legal. It still expires the same month.

A man in New Jersey is accused of habitually urinating on his ex-wife’s grave, according to media reports.

The purported desecration occurred at the Tappan Reformed Church cemetery, a centuries-old burial ground on the border between New Jersey and New York.

Michael Murray told News 12 that the saga began when he repeatedly noticed deli bags full of feces placed near the grave of his mother, Linda Torello, and contacted the police.

Officials took a report of the incident, and Murray later obtained permission to place cameras on the cemetery grounds to try to obtain footage of the act, according to the outlet.

The footage, which was too poor quality to bring to the police, revealed Torello’s ex-husband was the perpetrator, according to the New York Post. Murray later returned and obtained higher quality footage with his phone.

The 68-year-old man visited the cemetery “almost every morning between 6:14 a.m. and 6:18 a.m. with his current wife” and urinated on Torello’s grave, according to the Post.

“I can’t get my wife to go out to dinner but this guy gets his wife to go along with him to desecrate my mom’s remains every morning!” Murphy told the Post.

The man apparently has a long-standing grudge with Torello, according to WABC News. He was married to her for a short period of time more than 40 years ago and left when she became pregnant, insisting that the child was not his, her family told media outlets.

DNA testing proved the man was indeed the child’s father, according to the Post, and Torello remarried later.

Torello, an avid animal lover, died in 2017, according to an online obituary.

A public urination charge was filed against the man by the Orangetown Police Department on Sept. 18, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Orangetown police.

So much to unpack in the cemetery desecration story… The current wife who walks with him while he pisses on the ex-wife’s grave, has it occurred to her he will probably piss on her grave one day?

Rass, if you hear that the talk of the Tiff's staff last night was about an insanely nice pair of joggers a guy wore in for dinner, you can brag that you "know" the owner.

Were you nice to the host?? She's having a bad week so I hope so.

I had two beers there last night. One I paid for when I dropped her off and one they comped me when I picked her up, both were Jughandle.

Late to this story... They kind of just skip over the bags of feces part, no?

I didn't get to speak to the host. One of the kids on the team's father inexplicably left like 5 minutes before the end of the game to go to Taco Bell so I hung out with her for another 15 minutes while Missus D and Kid 2 got the table.

Also ask if Nicole (assuming Nicole was the solo server) enjoyed the table of 4 then 2 dudes or if she found them as annoying as I did. Unless you were one of them. Then they were very cool.

And we’re back. Decision was made while I was driving across town to drop off a coat and hat/gloves for my oldest who took tonight off from working here to go to the HS homecoming game. The youngest would eat here every night if we let her.

Nicole remembered misterd (after I gave enough details).

Today is the day I’ve found my local bagel place. Harvey’s Handrolled Bagels in Montclair (near the farmers market, across from the brewery for you NJ boys). Was for sure over an hour old and still had outer texture and inner chewiness.

So is that a reflection of how old the target audience is or does Montclair have some weekday ordinance that requires this?
