I don't know. TNT, TBS, TruTV, etc...plenty of stations. NHL games are primarily regional networks and getting ESPN gives them better promotion on tp internet site (Espn.com does not highlight hockey/Sports Center minimizes coverage today) and you get ABC. They can also schedule opposite during the playoffs. I remember NBA on Day 1, NHL 2 scheduling, Day 3 NBA, etc..

So national TV revenue is tripling on an annual basis. That's pretty huge for certain teams with young cores that could certainly use a higher cap going forward.

Have to say the Turner deal sounds like a good thing for fans. Games streaming on Hulu and HBO Max will be good for me personally.

Charra is the oldest player in the NHL to get a fighting Major. Some great pics of the fight.

Read this morning that last night was the first time the Pens have played the Caps without Ovechkin in the lineup since he was drafted.

there's at least one obvious correlation here ....ahem.... but i've never watched/followed hockey less than i have this year since i was maybe 4.

i mean... the sabres have been less than good for a few (thousand) years in a row now and i've definitely tailed off in general but this year is dramatically different. I was watching every Sabres game up until about a week ago but not really focusing that much - but now i have zero desire to watch games. I'm picking the freaking Milwaukee Brewers over like a Toronto v Winnipeg match 10 times out of 10. That ain't right.

I have suspected/wondered if lack of fans is impacting my enjoyment of this sport far more than others (ok all i really watch is baseball (a lot) and some soccer). It occasionally feels like I'm watching a video game.

The "four completely separate leagues" is sort of backfiring on my enjoyment too...sick of whatever the sabres division is called and i've watched an ok number of Canada division games but literally zero from the other two.

expecting (hoping?) my interest will jump back up when the playoffs start. Somebody pep me up over here.

Max, my team isn’t doing well either, but I’m excited for the playoffs. You should play fantasy hockey with us - it’s just made for fans of bad teams because it gives you a (small) reason to care.

I've lost interest. One reason is obviously this is one of worst Flames season ever. Also the NHL product is pretty bad.

That said. The Leafs-Habs series will be historically fun and the Jets will slaughter the Oilers.

Tom Wilson's behavior is like the Hansen Brothers in Slapshot. Indefensible. He needs a long, long suspension.

Don't worry guys, he got fined the maximum amount allowable under the CBA. Future incidents deterred.

There's legitimately no sub-McSorley response that could happen tomorrow night where I'd think they went too far. This motherfucker is going to put someone out of the league or worse sooner or later so just get him first.

:D appreciate your efforts with me here ha. ok i'm still confused. the "rent free" part i suppose i get (although... that's a term? hm i should brush up).

1. shee shhh shssshh ... i still don't understand...? Help with the D Lowe pic and the "strong to quite strong" - i would now and then have characterized Lowe as a meathead or simpleton at best

2. best skater in the league = obvious sarcasm? (i love how stupid i sound here haha but maybe it's just not that funny)

3. what about the top part? atCapitals chooses Violence??

i'm insistent that i get this so i can direct proper and knowledgeable hatred towards the right people, obviously.

"sheesh" is a tiktok thing and seems to be complimentary

"best skater"

I don't know the exact ref for the "atCapitals chooses Violence" bit

My prediction is the Caps to announce a maintenance day for Wilson and trust NYR doesn’t have the type of roster that would run a guy like Backstrom.

Wilson has to play. Caps are too banged up to not have him on the ice and he is still a good hockey player (not just a goon). Also caps don't have room to let a game just go.

What got Wilson all fired up?

Did the NHL change their suspension policy. A few years ago it was suspensions in the regular season were served in the regular season and not playoffs. I think the Cap benefited from this in the pre-Ovi era from some even uglier dirty play (big hit/boarding after a game winning goal).

GhostBear for PHI getting a meeting with DoPS for cross check in the back after a GWG last night.

Neither incident should take place, and I by no means excuse the actions, but it's such a fucking bad look for the wheel of justice.
