I guess they decided "you're too stupid to know it didn't mean anything" was worth going with over the easier "he's too stupid to understand what it meant".

For some people, this shit just literally comes down to "how rich are you and how much money do you not want to lose in taxes that would go to other people."

I just learned this past weekend that my wife and I's best couple friends that we had in ABQ, two awesome gay dudes, are Republican.

For 4 years we did so many outings, dinners, weekend hangouts, etc.. with them and their politics just never came up. My wife and I just assumed the entire time they were left leaning. But no. They are both well off and have wonderful lives, so they just want to keep their money.

Now does that translate exactly to what's here with Brady? I can't say, but it's absolutely not out of bounds to continue to ask him to clarify instead of what Breer said in this tweet which is exactly your point overall.

You hit it on the head. The affluent Republicans I know will rationalize any racist, fascist shit, as long as it comes with lower taxes.

You mean as long as it comes with lower taxes for the extremely wealthy. Under Trump's tax cuts, even the affluent paid higher taxes.

Lets be honest that the inexplicable social acceptance of "s/he just wants lower taxes" often serves as cover for the fact that they also enjoy the bigotry.

Fucking Brady is clearly in Ruth, Gretzky and Jordan territory.

("Fucking" for the fact that he has brutalized my Bills repeatedly).

It also speaks to how toxic capitalism can get. I mean, to most of the Republicans I know Trump was a joke that would assuredly fade during the primaries, until he absolutely was worth throwing 100% of their weight behind.

Also, when gay people espouse a fuck them, I got mine ethos, where them are the very people who face looming revocations of their civil rights? That's a powerful level of denial.

Honest to God - Bills fans in the stadium (like most NFL fans would) are going to cheer louder for him than for Diggs or Josh Allen.

Guy is going to be a folk hero until the day he gets sick and takes half the offence down with him.

Mind you, a lot of fans in Buffalo would then claim it's some sot of league plot to keep the Bills from winning games.

Do gay Republicans really care about the right to marry? Even so, I think it's low on the list. They just want to be rich and fuck.

I’d bet a dollar or two that Josh Allen never got vaccinated.

I mean, they're getting married. But I have no idea if they cared one way or the other.

I hope for their sake that the Bengals are vaccinated, because forfeiting games due to COVID seems right up their alley.

Yeah that seems like a "you'll lose screen time" threat that you can't possibly follow through on if it ends up not working.

Taking a page out of the military leadership handbook.

Blanket punishments.

But this goes even further. At least I still get paid when everyone gets screwed over. With this? No one on either team gets paid?

Oooof. That's rough. Does the union agree to this? What happens if an outbreak occurs amongst vaccinated individuals?

This has the potential to do a lot of damage, on the field and off.

I read your post wrong, thought you were angry a trade me that happened today… i’d still be angry, but this made me feel good about deciding not to keep Hopkins in fantasy.

Further reading looks like it's more about his losing a paycheck if a game is forfeited.

also this is great
