go with the fun story and don't think too hard about the other stuff. You know you can go down that road with literally any team in any sport.
Except next year's Sabres of course. They'll be perfect.

a) seriously now people - front row tools standing up and slapping hands on the glass at players is embarrassing. let's all move past this.
b) did you see Ladd blowing a tire in warmups and absolutely wiping out Pavelec? holy crap that could've been an epic disaster.
c) i like this Jets team entirely too much. i possibly believe in them more than they warrant. possibly.
b) hot-streak aside, Hutchinson (backup) is the better goalie, so maybe epic disaster, or maybe start of a fairytale story.
b) In a vacuum, they're a really good hockey team that warrants belief, in reality Winnipeg plays too much of a Bengals/Bills/Mets kind of role in Hockey. Just not destined to really ever be elite. Would love to be wrong though. Actually the Bills parrallel is pretty close, even when they were really good there was some dynasty in the way.
I don't really like all the media love-in about Winnipeg being back and all that. It's just too much and too over the top. If lived anywhere else in Canada i'd probably cheer against them just because of that. ("out-of-spite" is one of my favourite reasons for feeling things).
Cracked open this christmas present tonight for game 1. Haven't really drank in 3 months and the second glass is hitting me. Next goal, either team, and i'm for sure waking up the wife and dog with an instinctual scream/cuss.
And I don't even hate Corey Perry like the rest of the hockey world. Yet.
On to tomorrow...
Can't believe the Caps didn't show up at all game 1. Still like them in the series though. Really thought that was going to be a more exciting series to watch than MTL-OTT, just might be wrong on that one.
So many suspensions coming in this series. Any game not tied or withing 1 will be a gong show.
1) let's not start sucking each other's dick gentlemen etc
2) I messed up some financial considerations. Some are Red Wings based some are general. I let the government be too privy to my shit. Proverbially. Paperwork next year is going to be hilarious.
Fucking Wings. I'm pretty sure I saw some players at the hotel connected to my office. Thinking of going over and pulling the fire alarm at about 3 am tonight.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
These are the two worst teams this could happen to. Remember yesterday’s playoff preview? My prediction for this series was “Something ridiculously controversial will happen in this series, and two hypersensitive fan bases are going to lose their freaking minds over it.” Yeah, that didn’t take long.
There’s no nice way to put this: There may not be a combination of teams in the league that are any worse suited to handle this kind of situation. Montreal fans and media are obsessed with the team’s history and status, yet weirdly predisposed to view everything through the lens of shadowy conspiracy; Senators fans and media are almost cripplingly insecure about their place in the hockey world and prone to overreact to even the tiniest controversies. That’s an awfully bad pairing for this sort of thing, and if you’re not directly rooting for one of the teams involved in this series, you may want to just check out now. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

yeah, it seems Engo was pounding Dorsett so badly the refs told Hamhuis to break it up.
But the Dorsett started the 2nd fight, that should be a suspension too.

“We’ve had a little history in the past and when things get heated up you have to go with the situation. The only reason it was a 2-on-1, I was on my back and he kept punching and Hammer came over and grabbed him off. He (Engelland) was still trying to fight after we got him off and the ref was telling us to tie him up and he wasn’t quitting. We just tied him up and everything kind of died down and we were both standing there and kind of looked at each other and kind of came together again.”
Here’s what Hamhuis had to say about being the third man in and getting a game misconduct:
“I was worried about Dorse. I was kind of watching to see if Engelland was going to let up and he didn’t. He kept throwing punches when Dorse was defenceless on his back, so I had no choice to go in. They seemed to want to start something down there with the players they had on the ice. It was a situation where everyone was matched up and I was on my own and it was good because there came a point where Engelland ended up on top of Dorse and I was watching and hoping he would let off. That was pretty disrespectful when you have a guy down and you continue to punch.”
what a joke, Richardson had Stajan down and was still punching him. Why rescue Dorsett who has more fighting majors than anyone on the ice.
I've heard lots of things, but the refs deputizing a player to break up a fight is certainly an interesting one. Nevermind both refs watched as the linesman hold back Bollig and Ferland.

I wouldn't even complain. I think NYR may have gotten away with a penalty or two late but at that point (but then again so did the Pens), every penalty that I saw on PIT was a penalty and that one wasn't. I'll take it though.

I fucking hate that so much. But I really REALLY hate are the dude-bros that are so fucking dumb they do it to THEIR OWN guys setting up the breakout. I mean... hate.
You can lead a horse to fish, but you can't fish out a horse.
Hartley& Desjardains just had a conversation in the hallway that ended with a handshake. Seems like they got any potential message from #NHL
Desjardins seems like a respectable guy. I'd have to think he's not pleased at all with his team last night. It doesn't surprise me that he and Hartley are amiable about the whole situation. Hope Game 4 goes without anymore shenanigans.

Tonight should be really exciting. The Pens can take it to the Rangers and Winnipeg will be insane.

Pittsburgh has suddenly awakened to its hockey team. Funny how winning will do that. Watching Saturday's game was an odd experience. The pre-show was all about Connor McDavid and the future (capital-F?) of the NHL. Then the game started, and I saw Crosby and thought, 'Oh, yeah, that guy. He's still pretty good, too, I guess.'
Letang and Erhoff aren't going to play again this season, so I'm not optimistic long-term, but I'm at least interested in this series now.
And holy hell, Winnipeg is hosting a playoff game tonight! Soak it in, Trav.
