The old Junior team (that moved to Prince George)? Or the team that now plays with that name in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League? I'm guessing the former. I rarely see those jerseys. There was some guy selling a couple on UsedVictoria last year but he wanted a crazy amount of money for them. Mind you those were game-worn from 1981 when they won the WHL.

Mooseheads win, 6-4.
It's the sixth version of The Swamp. What could possibly go wrong?

Yep. Nerve-wracking game to watch. Time to break out that Mooseheads cap, HDO. Drouin (seen here holding the cup) had five assists, tying a single-game Memorial Cup record. MacKinnon was one goal shy of the single-tournament record. He almost got one in the final seconds, too.

Two best Junior teams in the world, championship game, and they still only had 2/3 of arena capacity. Attendance was dreadful.

86 combined shots on goal in that game. Tremendous stuff.

Colorado might even have to put MacKinnon straight into the NHL next year. Gabriel Landeskog is the only guy they've drafted that's played for them from the last three drafts. Well, Sami Aittokallio played 2/3 of one game. If you look at their draft history, there's lot of empty space in the Games Played column. And Joey Hishon is still recovering from this hit two years ago:

The Joe Sacco era was not a good stretch draft-wise. Maybe Sakic and Roy will have more luck. How thin is that Avalanche team right now? Gabriel Landeskog is the captain.

If the Avalanche take Jones, if I were the Flames I'd throw everything at Florida to take MacKinnon.
The Flames have 3 first round picks (6th, 20th and Pittsburgh's (30th). Trade them all plus next years 1st for Florida 2nd overall. Think they would take it? I'll even take Brian Campbell's contract off their hands.

Colorado really needs immediate scoring help. That trade would make sense if Jones was NHL-ready but defencemen take so damn long to mature. Years ago, I'd have been more willing to believe a trade like that could happen; teams are so concussion-wary now. That would be a huge gamble for the Flames; Colorado and Florida would get excoriated for passing up MacKinnon and that would leave Florida with three first-round picks in a draft year that gets very weak after MacKinnon, Drouin and Jones.

Post Memorial Cup: Central Scouting has bumped MacKinnon up to #1 overall and dropped Jones to #2. Rest of the order remains the same.

Good on the owner's son for walking out with the team. He is in a tough spot.

There's scenarios in the Memorial Cup game tonight where BOTH teams might pull their goalie late in the game and play 6-on-6 with no goalies. (Read the thread for what those are.)
