Re: SWAMPCRASH PYRAMID - ROUND 4 ACTIVE
This one should be interesting.
QUESTION #5: Name a Swamper (other than yourself).
- Must have at least 100 posts in this iteration of the Swamp.
- Any previous aliases count as the same person.
Cumulative Scores:
2 - bfj, Pruitt, bronto, AB, Shirley, Jerloma
1 - PDX, Ryan, BSF21, L-Jam, chedda
0 - everyone else
You can (and are encouraged to) still participate if you got a common/incorrect item. New players are also welcome, but you will be docked a point for the rounds you missed.
PM me with your response or e-mail (daveclements78 at gmail dot com).

Re: SWAMPCRASH PYRAMID - ROUND 4 RESULTS/ROUND 5 ACTIVE
Dammit. I was gonna go with Jim Palmer, but figured either bfj or wlu would pick him as well.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: SWAMPCRASH PYRAMID - ROUND 4 RESULTS/ROUND 5 ACTIVE
I thought Goose Gossage would get some play since he's been in the news a bit.

Re: SWAMPCRASH PYRAMID - ROUND 4 RESULTS/ROUND 5 ACTIVE
No Denton "Cy" Young. Which was the correct answer.
No Sandy Koufax.
Nice Nolan Ryan. Were I playing, I probably would've gone Warren Spahn, so you're welcome, PDX.

The Glory of Their Times is a great book I read some time ago (and would recommend). It included a lot of edited interviews with old-time baseball players. Rube Waddell was a crazy guy in that book, hence my answer.

Re: SWAMPCRASH PYRAMID - ROUND 5 RESULTS
QUESTION #6: Name a boxer who held the lineal Heavyweight Championship of the World from the beginning of the gloved era through 2000.
- The "lineal" championship is a way to determine a single champion using a "man-who-beat-the-man" approach after the fragmentation from multiple governing bodies.
- If you don't know a lot about boxing, just name a historical heavyweight you have heard of and there will be like a 90% chance he qualifies.
Cumulative Scores:
3 - bfj, Jerloma, bronto
2 - Pruitt, AB, Shirley, L-Jam, PDX, Ryan
1 - BSF21, chedda, That French Guy, wlu_lax

OK, I'll defer to the consensus here, but my inclination is that this answer went against the spirit of the question, especially since I added other notes to more specifically qualify who would be considered a "classical" composer.A_B wrote:(billy Joel released a 100% classical album that was not for a movie)
Do I now need to go research to make sure Rick Springfield didn't write an oboe concerto somewhere along the line?

Completely forgot about that. I debated going Ian Anderson, but had in my mind the answer required primarily known for classical. Avoided Cage for the same reason.A_B wrote:(billy Joel released a 100% classical album that was not for a movie)
